I have been working with the Kateri Tekakwitha Fund for almost 30 years. Over the years I have seen young Guatemala Indigenous women become the first in their family to graduate from high school with a career. over the last ten years fifty young women have been placed in intern position to gain experience so they could secure their first job in their career. They are successfully making the transition from school to work. Our motto is "Everything is possible with a little help from a FRIEND". We have had the support of many faithful donors who act as Friends. Together we have impacted many lives.
I've enjoyed working with Kay Sweeney, founder, and seeing the work first hand on a trip to Guatemala a few years ago.
Without our help many of these young woman would not be able to complete their education and have careers that add to the support of their families and the economy of their country.
The young women are very grateful for our help and are doing a terrific job, getting good grades and at the end of their education are fulfilling their dreams to become the breadwinner of their family.
I have been working with the Kateri Tekakwitha Fund for a few years now as a translator. I am a high school Spanish teacher and involve my students in translating the correspondence between the scholarship recipients in Guatemala and their American sponsors. I have been with the program long enough to see the life-changing benefits the program affords its beneficiaries and it is an important resource for me professionally to educate my students about the hardships faced by the indigenous communities of Guatemala, especially young women like the ones served by this special program.Kudos to Kay and all of her generous sponsors and volunteers.
This mission of this fund is the heart and soul of the organization. Every penny goes towards the mission and its purpose.

WWW.Kateri-Fund.org will tell you more.
I have supported Kateri Tekakwitha Fund for 15 years. My modest monthly donation goes SO far in the country of Guatemala to support women and girls as they further their education - which in turn lifts their family, community, and nation.
These are very special young women-all of them indigenous Mayans from the Western Highlands. There are many hurdles for them to overcome-societal prejudice, very limited personal scope for women in their communities, deep poverty, and difficulty obtaining their first employment after high school graduation.
Kateri Tekakwitha Fund:
-provides financial support so young women can attend school;
-assists students with their second language, Spanish;
-local staff supports the girl and her family in committing to attend school even when her help at home is sorely needed;
-provides paid internships for graduates that lead to permanent jobs in their chosen careers;
-and, most importantly, the local staff, who are all graduates of the Fund, help build self-esteem and confidence for these girls go on to inspire others.
I can not recommend your support of this grass-roots Fund too much. This has been an effort of love since 1987. WWW.Kateri-Fund.org
