I have supported Kateri Tekakwitha Fund for 15 years. My modest monthly donation goes SO far in the country of Guatemala to support women and girls as they further their education - which in turn lifts their family, community, and nation.

These are very special young women-all of them indigenous Mayans from the Western Highlands. There are many hurdles for them to overcome-societal prejudice, very limited personal scope for women in their communities, deep poverty, and difficulty obtaining their first employment after high school graduation.

Kateri Tekakwitha Fund:
-provides financial support so young women can attend school;
-assists students with their second language, Spanish;
-local staff supports the girl and her family in committing to attend school even when her help at home is sorely needed;
-provides paid internships for graduates that lead to permanent jobs in their chosen careers;
-and, most importantly, the local staff, who are all graduates of the Fund, help build self-esteem and confidence for these girls go on to inspire others.

I can not recommend your support of this grass-roots Fund too much. This has been an effort of love since 1987. WWW.Kateri-Fund.org
