ADAP is a leading voice in the HIV/AIDS community and stands as the most innovative of organizations in the way it engages the community to seek solutions to issues that affect patients daily. Their work at the federal and state level are unsurpassed and their ability to get things done is unmatched. Their fireside chat style meetings ensure to keep the room lively and engaged and are amazing opportunities to learn and network with the top voices in the community. I couldn’t say enough wonderful things about the leadership!!
My time on the advisory committee for the ADAP Advocacy Association has been incredible. I have learned so much about ADAP and other funding sources and how to best meet the needs of my community. Everyone who works with this association is passionate and driven with a commitment to helping those most in need of the programs they so fiercely seek to make better. As a person living with HIV, my voice has been amplified by being part of every conversation. I have felt empowered by AAA and will continue to engage so that I may become a better advocate for myself and my community. Thank you to everyone who works here for your tireless efforts to improve and expand access to care for those who need it most!
This organization is, has been, and continues to be intentional about the work and reach of it's impact around advocacy to improve the lives of many people living with HIV and/or AIDS. I have worked closey with ADAP's partners and too have benefitted by way of learning to naviagte the systems in terms of accessing resources. the ADAP Advocacy Association has been instumental in amplifying the voices of many patient around the world and I trust that the work will continue to be unmatached and benificial to those in need. ADAP Advocacy Association, continue you're exceptional work!
I have been involved with ADAP Advocacy either tangentially or directly since its inception in the 2007. I can think of few other non-profit organizations that consistently value the lives and lived experiences of people living with HIV/AIDS, suffusing the patient throughout the entirety of their work, research, and programming. I have benefitted greatly from their tireless work as a patient attempting to navigate an often confusing healthcare provision landscape, as patient expert contributing my experiences and professional expertise via research and writing, and as an educator providing comprehensive information and research to both lay and professional audiences.
ADAP Advocacy's mission has always been focused on putting patients at the forefront of every conversation, particularly in spaces where the patient is usually and notably absent, such as political conversations, events, and debates. As a professional working in the HIV space I notice that, all too often, patients are not "in the room where it happens"— where the big decisions get made about the future of HIV policy; where the administrative and legislative rules that essentially determine our "worth" from a government perspective are crafted, almost always without input from or consideration of those of us whose lives are at stake. ADAP Advocacy works to change that, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
This organization really cares about what it does. It's impacted my life in a positive way and has taught me a lot about the issues about HIV. I definitely recommend learning more about this nonprofit organization and all it does.
aaa+ is a non-profit that supports, lobbies and works on behalf of patients living with HIV/AIDS. As an organization is works on policy at the state and federal levels to help advocate for those who need a louder voice. As an organization aaa+ is excellent at including all of the stakeholders and letting each share their perspective and experiences to better advocate for us all.
ADAP Advocacy Association is a dynamic organization that has broadened my insights and increased my knowledge real-world events about public health and HIV-related topics. We have people from various cultures and backgrounds to give perspectives and help strategize to bring positive change and solutions. I found out about ADAP Advocacy Association in 2015 and has been an active participant in their fireside chat retreats since 2019.
My experience with numerous HIV/AIDS nonprofits has shown me that the ADAP Advocacy Association (AAA+) truly stands out as one of the most impactful organizations. Their unwavering commitment to raising awareness, educating, and advocating for the health and well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS is remarkable. AAA+ consistently puts its mission at the forefront, ensuring real, lasting benefits for the community. Examples include their ADAP Directory, Blogs, Annual Reports and recorded testimony at Federal and State levels.
What sets them apart is their dedication to excellence, transparency, and a genuine commitment to inclusion and diversity in everything they do. By shedding light on HIV, AAA+ also addresses broader issues in our healthcare system, helping not only those with HIV but also individuals facing other chronic health challenges, high medical costs, and barriers to care.
If you’re looking to support or get involved with a nonprofit that is making a meaningful difference, the ADAP Advocacy Association is an organization truly worth your time and energy.
I'm thrilled to be able to review ADAP Advocacy. I have been a fan for many years, and their commitment to advocating for patients and their access to medication is why I have worked with them on patient safety initiatives for so many years.
What I love about ADAP is their insistence at including patients in all discussions. Sometimes you see patient advocacy orgs that are really just extremely wealthy healthcare providers pretending to advocate for patients, but ADAP is the real deal. I attend 1-2 events of theirs annually and always meet patients/patient advocates who are a part of the discussion, driving the decision-making, and keeping the patient need the organizing principle.
From the moment I engaged with ADAP Advocacy Association, it was clear that their commitment to improving the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS is unparalleled. Their comprehensive approach to advocacy ensures that critical programs and resources are accessible to those who need them most. The team’s expertise in navigating the complex landscape of healthcare and policy is truly impressive, and their tireless efforts have led to significant improvements in access to treatment and support services.
What sets ADAP Advocacy Association apart is their profound understanding of the issues at hand and their ability to drive meaningful change. Their advocacy work has not only influenced policy decisions but has also empowered countless individuals to access the care and support they deserve. The organization's focus on ensuring that the needs of the community are at the forefront of their mission is both commendable and inspiring.
Moreover, the ADAP Advocacy Association’s dedication to education and awareness helps to break down barriers and combat stigma, fostering a more informed and compassionate society. Their community outreach initiatives are exemplary, providing crucial information and support to those who might otherwise be overlooked.
In every aspect of their work, ADAP Advocacy Association exemplifies excellence and compassion. Their impactful advocacy, combined with their unwavering support for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS, makes them an invaluable asset to the community. If you are seeking an organization that truly makes a difference and leads with heart, look no further than the ADAP Advocacy Association.
We have donated to this organization for the last decade because they consistently demonstrate their commitment to putting patient voices at the center of their advocacy. We donate to their Scholarship Fund because it works to ensure no conversation about HIV service delivery is had without patient input.
My first visit with ADAP Advocacy Association was I think in 2011 or 2012. I was the only person from North Carolina in attendance.
By the end of the Conference, I felt I'd found me a home for my advocacy!
ADAP Advocacy is about people living with HIV, about us being able to find the services we need, about sharing information that can potentially make life easier!
It certainly has made a difference in my life!
The Community Access National Network (CANN) has collaborated with the ADAP Advocacy Association on numerous projects over the years, including legislative briefings, community roundtables, blogs, as well as our 340B Commission. They always strive to ensure the patient perspective is involved in all of its patient advocacy activities. They represent the 'go-to' organization on all matters pertaining to the State AIDS Drug Assistance Programs from the patients' point-of-view.
It's long overdue that an organization such as this one has started to represent people who are all too often under served and under represented. Rather than give the state large sums of money, year after year, only to see them mismanage it, resulting in waiting lists, it would be better to allow beneficiaries to self-direct their own care. People living with HIV/AIDS are far more aware of their own needs and arguably would do a better job of obtaining services and support that would allow them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. All too often, the views of the beneficiary are overlooked and this organization has demonstrated, in a short period of time, its ability to put the ADAP recipients first!
This organization has good goals, but sometimes is over zealous in promoting them. They continue to say that people died while on waiting lists when the truth is that the people who died were actually getting their drugs from patient assistance programs, but had unfortunately run out of options for a regimen that would work for them. The organization has implied at times that the ADAPs are not doing their best to serve patients, when the opposite is indeed the truth. The ADAP Directors in this nation are excellent advocates for patients in their states. When advocacy groups want to help the cause, it would be more helpful to work with the ADAP Directors to see how they can improve the services of a state ADAP. It is best to retain credibility and speak only the facts than to over exagggerate and lose a powerful voice
aaa+ is a very important voice in expanding access to care and treatment for HIV positive people in the United States. At a time when the focus has shifted to global AIDS, I have attended some of the critical events that aaa+ has organized, and I have found them very helpful in understanding not only how this problem affects people living with HIV, but especially how our organizations can work together to effect real change. I look forward to events that aaa+ will put on in the future and I hope that their efforts in this field will continue to make waves in the HIV community.
The ADAP ADVOCACY ASSOCIATION (aaa+) is a group of HIV/AIDS ADAP advocates that are sincere and whole heartedly immersed in the HIV health care access as well as the HIV-related disability issues. The fact that some of the board members as well as the CEO are struggling with this disease and its problems on a daily basis gives this organization a personal perspective, a deep seated understanding, and an ever-flowing impetus to be true and staunch advocates for those who are less fortunate. Moreover, the fact that the all volunteer board members come from different walks of life, professions, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and political affiliation, enriches aaa+ multi-dimensional advocacy and makes it more of a true representation of the people living with HIV/AIDS. AAA+ is the honest and unwavering voice for the AIDS/HIV+.
This organization is the ONLY national HIV/AIDS organization fighting to improve the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs). ADAPs provide life-saving medications to people living with HIV/AIDS who have little, or no insurance. Believe it or not, but there have actually been national waiting lists to access this important program due to insufficient federal funding, and in some cases people have actually died waiting for their medications. So while we fight to provide low-cost medications to those suffering from HIV/AIDS in foreign countries (which we should be doing), we're letting Americans die waiting! The ADAP Advocacy Association is simple terms is fighting for those who cannot fight themselves.

The above commentary does not reflect the goals or objectives of the ADAP Advocacy Association - and in fact, has never blamed anyone for the deaths of those Americans who died while waiting for their medications. It has, rather, pointed out the facts that are part of the public record widely accepted in the HIV/AIDS communities. One of the obstacles our organization continues to experience are views expressed above where accountability is absent. It is not about blame, it is about improving access to care.
