My wife and I have talked to them about their plans for continued development, and the progress they have made thus far, and have spent time with their animals. We have seen Longhorn Hideout members involved in many community events, parades, and activities with the local school. They seem like genuine people who are driven to serve others. I will continue to support their mission and be an advocate for them and their goals.

Be careful with any cash or item donations, this non-profit is fake. Their intentions of serving wounded veterans have never happened since day one. The only positive comments are from personal friends and their supposed board members. Beware the community shuns this fake operation

This is a phony non-profit, most of the positive comments come from personal friends, the people of Kanab shun this place, they are aware of this scam.

Has any veterans actually stayed at this retreat and if so how many, the property this place sits on is zoned for single family residence only so what are they going to do with a two bedroom one bath house when it comes to hosting a veteran and his family. I want to know if I donate to this non-profit that it will be used for veterans only and done so in a proper fashion, 3/4's of these comments posted are from board members and friends so where is the truth in that. Please make a posting and state clearly what is the truth about this non-profit

I have been active in supporting this great non-profit for 2 years here in Kanab. It takes a long time to get things all available when you start out from scratch. The founders, Joe and Carol Lamica are doing a great job. More exciting things are being added with much support from other people in the community. We owe a debt of gratitude to all our veterans whether they have made the ultimate sacrifice, retired or currently serving . I am disgusted at those who don't support our heros that fight to keep America free and the rude people that have said hateful things and some just plain lies about this retreat. You know they are lying when they aren't even man enough to give their name ! I have a grandson still serving that was on the Korean dmz for the last 3 years and I will always love and respect our military. Keep up the great work Joe and Carol ! From: Linda S. Kanab resident for 25 years and staunch supporter of our Military !

I live not far away from this retreat, and while it's still in the works of being built, this couple is devoted in making sure injured soldiers have a safe place to travel to, visit, stay, whatever they want. They give so much to the community, and while I'm sure they have "bills" to pay, I'm positive EVERY DIME SPENT, IS TO MAKE SOME SORT OF IMPROVEMENT!!! The animals alone, make this place a must see! And donations like ours help them get this retreat up and going! Keep up the good work guys!! You definitely have my support!

I am shocked that this website does not fact check anything. I have read four reviews on here that by simply fact checking our blatant lies. How can a website say they are helping non profits allow negative reviews of something that hasn't opened for business. I am appalled at there lack of integrity. I have seen the work and money that the lamica family has put into building this non profit. They are wonderful people trying to give back to there fellow veterans. The longhorns hideout is a labor of love for them. A big Thank you for all you are doing from this disabled Marine Veteran.

Joe and Carol, of the Longhorn Hideout Retreat, are what one would describe as high quality people with immense integrity. I have had the pleasure of experiencing them as neighbors (helping care give our animals in the most needed of times!) and know them to live and breathe their mission to serve and support veterans. I am grateful to the people in this world who are dedicated to their mission to serve; and especially to those that want to give back to the people that have given everything to serve us. Thank you Joe and Carol for the example that you are to all of us.
