The Jersey City Fire Foundation was formed by identifying the needs of the firefighters who serve this great city. The mission statement was to provide training, specialized equipment, and safety in the performance of their duties.<br><br>The Foundation has acquired grants and funding through public/private partnerships. liberty humane and Jersey City Animal Control are one in the same, neither are helpful and do not care for injured animals and do not come out to service numerous calls about an injured animal. This is heartbreaking and shameful. they do not assist, call them one day and test it out for yourself. you will see

LOHH is an amazing organization highlighting amazing hardworking females in the hip hop community providing opportunities to showcase their art on so many influential platforms!! I’ve had the pleasure of participating in many of their events and each of them have been breathtaking and inspiring!! They are truly innovative!!!

New City Kids is a great nonprofit organization that is full of inspiration and teen leaders. The organization hires teenagers to teach the youth of Jersey City which causes the atmosphere to be energetic and full of love. I am an alumni of the program and always volunteer to make sure that I am still impacting the youth. This place has change lives and transformed families. I highly recommend people volunteer if you have a passion for helping the youth of the city!

WomenRising helps women in Hudson County succeed beyond measure. The organization is a staple in the community.

I have the honor of leading the All Volunter Mission that is operating and preserving The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery & Memorial Park, a local Treasure that represents over 350 years of Jersey City history and nature. <br> The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery & Memorial Park evolved from the hunting grounds of the Leni Lenape to the vegetable gardens & meadows of our earliest Dutch-settlers, to an encampment site & bunker during the Revolutionary War & War of 1812, & in 1829, became the very first Cemetery Company in the State of NJ. Home to our City's earliest Mayors, Freeholders, leaders, & residents, plus thousands of soldiers from Revolutionary era War of 1812, & Civil War forward, this 6 acre site is a sanctuary, rich with history & historic monuments, small wildlife, ancient wildflowers, colonial plants, & mysterious underground crypts & tunnels. It was tragically abandoned in 2008. <br><br>Since then, we Volunteers have operated the Cemetery with no regular revenue or funding, have made major improvements, and have transformed it into a beautiful 6 acre urban Memorial Park & Center for History, Nature, Music, & Art, offering Jersey City green open space, and historical, educational and cultural events and programs for children and adults. We are also housing Veterans, who live onsite in the historic Gatekeeper house, and act as our security & help with our daily volunteers. Together, this summer we created the 'Angels Community Garden', and helped feed the local homeless shelter with weekly fresh vegetable deliveries. We have no regular funding, and rely on individual contributions to operate, pay the bills, maintain equipment, & make repairs. Please help us continue this heartwarming Mission of love!! <br>

as a ordained minister in paulus hook I feel this is terribly ugly. how awful a place like this exists in our neighborhood. though I asked some neighbors and they had never heard of it. <br> <br>I would imagine it no longer exists. thank the lord.

I've been working with empower for about three years now, leading R&D on the composting project for their Bangladesh site. Empower has a great group of people dedicated to improving the lives of waste pickers around the world. They are determined to give these communities safer, more lucrative, and self sustainable means of scavenging. I've seen a lot if progress in my time with this group, and I hope to see this good work continue.

Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery is not only historic for its eternal resting place of so many people, including veterans of wars fought for our nation, but it is also the site of Revolutionary War encampments & was an important stop in the journey of those traveling the Underground Railroad (a tunnel entrance from a crypt leading something like a mile to a safe house!). This Cemetery has been featured as a location in HBO's Sopranos. This cemetery is a holy ground for the community to observe Memorial Day & pay direct tribute to those fallen in U.S. Wars...this Cemetery is a place where nature and the living can come together to celebrate life & history as a venue for music performance and great works, like Shakespeare in the park and cultural events, like Civil War Reenactments. Rare flowers, dating back to early settlement of our nation still thrive in this cemetery, because it is an open space that for centuries was preserved by the urban community that surrounds it. I am thrilled & blessed to live so near this place that begs to be Federally recognized as one of our nations most important spots!.

St. Paul's Center of Caring is an "umbrella" organization that supports several nonprofits: Hudson County's largest food pantry, Hudson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children, JC Food Coop, several Twelve Step groups, and more. It's easy to raise money for food but harder to raise money for the organizations that support the food pantry by providing space and office support. The Center of Caring is a great "deal" for your donation because you support a lot of different causes at the same time.

As a parent of two boys ages 9 and 12, it is hard to find a safe place that my boys can play after school. The PAL has been so helpful and invaluable in offering sports all through the year. My boys have played football, wrestling, and are now playing rugby with the PAL and the most spectacular part is that they offer these programs at no cost. I am so grateful to the PAL for being such a great organization and mentor to my kids

What is most impressive about the Actors Shakespeare Company's productions (aside from the fine ensemble work, skillful staging, and adept direction)is their courage to eschew trendy and superficial interpretive overlays and explore Sheakespeare's masterpieces with a sincere ambition to present their essence and let their genius shine in an honest and unpretentious way. In a theatrical age of hip-hop productions of Hamlet (as if that play's depth can be illuminated by flash, glitter, and bling) ASC avoids such creative exhaustion by returning to the source of the author's ability to present life in all its moving and vivid complexity. I always feel more alive after experiencing ASC's productions, and that's what great theater is all about.

I moved over to Jersey City, NJ from Brooklyn, NY and I felt isolated since being in NYC I had vast rescources for LGBT people living with HIV/AIDS. I was talking to my best friend who moved over to the area proir to my coming and he told me about a wonderful small support group that was being held on thursday evenings at 7pm. I was afraid at first to attend not knowing what to expect but I soon found out that it was like a great small brotherhood. I found myself runnning to get their on time to get a seat because the room was tiny but cozy! HPC does great work for the Hudson County LGBT community and People Living HIV/AIDS giving them a sense of hope, direction, and socail suppot. I know that most Non-profits are flat funded and have no income but this organization works miracles on a shoe string budget! I would recommend their services to any new residents to the LGBT community of Jersey City.
