My name is Alora and this is my 3rd Year being a part of Ladies Of Hip Hop. It has empowered me and has impacted my life greatly which has led to me having sisters/ friendships that are going to last forever. I've only heard nothing but positive things about LOHH. Marjory Smarth was the first that recommended this platform to me. Getting picked to perform with the Fire Ball Tweetie was more than an honor. It was a milestone in my life because I was introduce to a whole different world in which I could learn and grow with all the support and nourishment that I needed. I was surrounded by women who were just as great as me if not greater. Initially I thought walking into the room it would feel like a competition and tension all around. But it was the complete opposite, a room full of love, cheers and laughter. Women from all parts of the world universally supporting and helping guide each other towards success. Women who want to see you win and conquer your goals and dreams. The President Michele Byrd has continued to mentor me on a daily basis even beyond the dance floor. I'm amazed at how she keeps this ship moving and flourishing and then I met the tribe. I've learn so much from this foundation ,it is my second home. I look forward to our upcoming events and having many more returning and new members. Each year its progressively growing and I’m just fortunate to be a part of it.

I recently discovered this group and I've really enjoyed the online dance classes and the teachers! It's so inspiring to be able to connect with dancing women and femmes all over the world and to get to support and participate in a community that works to empower women and girls and elevate BIPOC voices in the arts.

LADIES OF HIP HOP is an exclusive festival - a wonderful mix of ''younity'', feeling, breakthrough and #herstory based on Michele McPhee's years of experience helping a huge range of girls & women to realize human and artistic opportunities in hip-hop culture! Every part of festival is studded with inspiration, real life examples, conversations and foundation of artists and dancers all over the world.

I first saw the video performance of LOHH 2011 on Youtube - a tribute to the amazing woman Marjory Smarth. Last year I was able to go and take part in LOHH LA and join to volunteers team on LOHH NYC. It is a beautiful experience that lead to follow your passion, build your confidence and pass what was given to you!

Once Ladies of Hip Hop, forever Ladies of Hip Hop! Thank you!

The summer of 2019 was the first time that I went to the Ladies of Hip Hop Festival. It was an amazing experience. I’m a filmmaker who has been doing research on women in hip hop and being invited to the festival has been an amazing opportunity to see first hand the support and love this festival has cultivated over the years. The high energy and support I saw was really uplifting and inspiring. Ladies of Hip Hop Festival definitely needs more attention; it’s a safe space for women to express themselves. I’m excited for the future of the festival and would love to help continue uplifting the festival and community!

My name is Deborah Conton and I currently with Ladies of Hip Hop.

I met the founder a few years back in NYC via the collective I'm a part of (Afro Mosaic Soul). So, when the founder, Michele McPhee reached out to me to do a performance project, I was more than honored.

Spoke on a panel for Ladies of Hip Hop festival in 2019 about being a woman in street dance from the club perspective.

The work ethic behind this organization is anything but minute. Women and femmes from all over the World partake in classes, workshops, performances, and panels to shed light about street dance.

No matter what obstacles come their way, LOHH always keeps it pushing and for the community. Truly thankful for the experiences now and in the near future.

Don't know where Women and Femmes would be without the voices that make up Ladies of Hip Hop.

This labor of Love via music and dance should be shown to all through many mediums. It's time.

Thank You for reading!

I first hear of Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival through a friend in New York City two years ago. I finally was able to go to the festival they hosted in NYC last year and was blown away by the safe space they created for women & girls to share their art & knowledge. This was a full-fledged production. The panel, workshops, and battle I went to were well-organized, thoughtful, and empowering. I can't wait for the next one.
