Mission: DUNES DOG TRAINING CLUB, INC. Our Mission: As members of Dunes Dog Training Club, Inc., we will promote the best dog obedience training classes in our community by using experienced instructors and by using positive methods of obedience training for all dogs. Our Pets N Vets Program helps Veterans obedience train their dogs for emotional support animals, therapy dogs, or service dogs at "no cost" to qualified Veterans.
Results: 15 Service Dogs have been trained and qualified through our Pets N Vets Program since our program began in 2012.
Target demographics: U.S. Military Veterans with PTSD/TBI
Direct beneficiaries per year: 100 Veterans
Geographic areas served: Northwest Indiana
Programs: Our Pets N Vets program is for dog obedience training for our Veterans to obtain emotional support animals and service dogs. Veterans who join our program and do not have a dog can be directed to rescues and shelters in our area where they can adopt a dog at a low cost or no cost at all.
I am currently in training with my dog through this charity. I have noticed a huge difference in not only my dog but within myself as well. I started telling the instructors after the 2nd week how greatful I was that they volunteer there time to help us Veterans. Believe it or not a lot of people don’t think we as Veterans deserve the benefits we get and the staff begs to differ. I greatly appreciate each and everyone of you. I hope this helps gets you the recognition and support you need.
They helped me train my dog to Service Dog level. She is the best dog. So well mannered and behaved from the training. The trainers are kind and compassionate. I highly recommend Dunes Dog Training Club!
I've worked as a volunteer with Pets N Vets since it began in 2012. I find it very rewarding to help our U.S. Military Veterans obedience train their dogs at "no cost" to them, when it is so very expensive for anyone to obtain a service dog. Many of our Veterans do not have the funds to purchase a trained service dog, so our program helps them tremendously with their PTSD and other medical issues. We also hold dog obedience classes for the general public, which helps support our Pets N Vets Program. In my opinion, all our classes are the best option for dog obedience training in the N.W. Indiana region.
