I was pleasantly surprised by what this band is able to do. You have a mixed group of student ranging from freshman to seniors. Some have been playing music for a while and others are playing for the first time. They come together really nicely. You could tell the kids are proud of what they do. They deserve recognition for all the hard work they do.
ESCB is a valuable asset to our community. It provides a musical outlet for adults and it provides music education for children. Our town would be a lot less fun without this group.
It is very fun playing in the band, and the band is very effective in raising money to then support the music program in El Segundo. The conductor, board members, and staff of the band is top-notch.
This is the group responsible for music in El Segundo. It is far more then just a Concert Band as the name might imply.
This group started by bringing music to the Elementary Schools of El Segundo by setting up and fully running an afternoon Band program for the two elementary schools in El Segundo. This has let to many young children including my two sons getting involved in music at an early age.
When the High School stopped funding the Marching Band, the El Segundo Concert Band stepped in again. They now raise close to $100,000 a year to help keep and maintain the El Segundo High School band program going while getting one of the best conductors in the local area to run the band.
Recently more cutbacks and a change of curriculum lead to the school district not allowing Middle School students to take 3 years of band. One again the El Segundo Concert Band stepped in and now has a Middle School program that has filled this void with an after school program.
But this isn't all they do. In the Summer they put on a Music Symposium for late Elementary through High School students. This symposium attracts students from not only El Segundo but throughout the South Bay.
Last but not least the El Segundo Concert band puts on concerts. Always outstanding and always free to the public. Allowing people in the community to both continue playing after their school years are over and entertaining the South Bay community.
We are so grateful for the El Segundo Concert Band. They reach out to the community and schools all year long, making their music fun and accessible to everyone at every level. They work tirelessly to promote music appreciation in the schools and it has paid off in an ever expanding music program for all to enjoy.
El Segundo Concert Band is instrumental in promoting music appreciation in the community and through social media, the world at large. They use their talent and enthusiasm to inspire kids to take up music as a lifelong vocation. They mentor middle school and high school students through symposium, demonstrate team work and have a great time doing it.
El Segundo Concert Band deserves all the aaccolades it receives.
The El Segundo Concert Band not only provides the community the opportunity to attend concerts that are produced and performed at a level rivaling any professional organization, but they are responsible for keeping music in the schools. I am grateful that my children have learned to love and appreciate music through their participation in the programs at the Elementary, Middle School and High School levels, all of which exist because of the El Segundo Concert Band. Music is so important – we are privileged to have the dedication of the ESCB to keep it alive, and pass that dedication onto the next generation.
This organization has opened up my and my friends' minds to music and its real world applications. They open the world of music to the very young and very old. Modern society is in need of organizations such as the ESCB; the future of music and culture depend on understanding its roots. ESCB does a wonderful job at expressing music's importance throughout the South Bay communities.
Working with the El Segundo Concert Band has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in a long time. The dedication of the entire organization to ensure that instrumental music remains in our schools is unwavering. Our students are privileged to take part in a stellar music program, find their passion and direction simply because of El Segundo Concert Band. I am honored to be a part of this unwavering organization.
