Boulder Valley Women's Health Center is a wonderful, inclusive reproductive health clinic. They serve disadvantaged populations as well as fully insured women, men and teens. They offer a full range of reproductive health care and preventative care including birth control, std screenings, vasectomies and abortions in a safe, caring, non-judgmental space. They offer sliding scale payments and never turn anyone away for inability to pay. They are active in their community and participate in many local events, partnering with other local groups to support women's rights, gay rights, civil rights and human rights in general.
I don’t leave bad reviews. I worked in the service industry and I get that sometimes people have off days. I’m doing this because I’m so angry and sad at the YEARS of pain free life I lost because of their negligence. In 2017 I went in for an annual and to get my IUD replaced.
I reported extreme period pain (vomiting, cramping so back I couldn’t get out of bed, heavy periods) and was told to take ibuprofen. (After telling the dr I took more than the recommended dose of ibuprofen every month.) Years later, I received a diagnosis of endo from another dr. It turns out my uterus and ovaries were riddled with not only endo but also fibroid cysts. I was able to get a hysterectomy and have been pain free for a year now. I can’t tell you how much it’s changed my life-not only the hysterectomy but to have someone respond in a kind, caring, attentive way to my pain. As a women’s health clinic, it was completely negligent to not even consider something might be going on with my periods.
Not to mention, the IUD insertion was done with zero pain management and was completely traumatic. The Dr dismissed the pain saying i would heist feel pressured-meanwhile I was crying and almost passed out. The clinic’s admin were a mess and I had to push to get a two week check up to make sure it had been inserted correctly. When I came in for that, the NP noticed I had an infection. She was convinced it was an STI even though I’m ace and the last time I had penetrative sex was in 2010. There was no talk of the infection being from the insertion and I felt gaslit. I was given antibiotics and had no follow up after the STI tests came back negative. My story is not unique. They have outdated gatekeeping policies if you need HRT and their outdated ideas of what “health” is lead to people I know being weight shamed. Literally go anywhere else.
Inclusive, affordable and high quality! This clinic is amazing and has provided the best doctor experience I've ever had. The providers are so personal and caring, I'll keep coming back!
This place is terrible. They are rude, disrespectful and uncaring. You will feel even worse than you did walking in. Steer clear.
Women's Health was a great place for me to go after college. I did not have a job that came with insurance after college and i needed a place to to go for my health concerns and health wellness. They were so friendly and affordable. I am now back almost a decade later as a board member so i can give back and support a great local health center that was there for my when i was in need! Also the teen education program is awesome!
Boulder Valley Women's Health Center is a vital resource for women -- particularly teens and younger women -- and men (yes, men too) who need reproductive and family planning health services. They are the only provider that has a sliding fee scale for these services -- which is in part why they need -- and deserve -- community support. BVWH Center also offers educational programs in area high schools. Great programs all around with experienced professional staff!
I have been a Board Member of Boulder Valley Women's Health Center (WH) since 2008, and am now President of the Board. I joined the WH board primarily because of Susan Levy, who is the most dedicated and brilliant Executive Directors I have ever met. I was also a strong believer in the mission of the organization -- to provide comprehensive sexual and gynecological health care and education to girls and women of every age, income level and persuasion, regardless of their immigrant or financial status.
I attended a sexual health education class at Boulder High School this spring, and was amazed at the level of candor by the teacher and the students, and the quality, completeness and honesty expressed.
We reach women and teens who would not have access to reproductive health services, and we do so with incredible respect and sensitivity to cultural differences.
My very favorite aspect of our work is our presentations to high school students---over 270 last year. It's a credit to our staff that students are so candid about their questions and issues. Imagine the number of teens we reach in 270 large classes!
