Attending our first NC Fossil Festival this past Memorial Day weekend, we were blown away by the 1,000 of visitors this Museum brings to the small town of Aurora, NC. Over the long weekend event they had over 18,000 visitors. A STEM tent, the Community Center full of fossil enthusiasts displaying their "finds" over the years of digging in the Museum fossil pit was amazing. So many other vendors, learning centers, live music, and food were abundant during this annual festival. A parade, Veterans and 1st responders appreciation breakfast. The amazing part - it's FREE! Year round admission to the Museum - FREE! The summer STEM camps for kids - FREE! because of sponsors like The Burroughs Wellcome Fund. We'll be back!!
From our Teacher Kit Program to our Outreach Activities, Virtual Programming, and on-site events, the Aurora Fossil Museum is a champion in providing STEAM education experiences and resources to all.
I absolutely love taking my kids to the Aurora Fossil Museum. They have so much fun looking at all of the different sharks teeth and exhibits in the museum as well as digging for them outside. Even I have fun digging! We have found so many cool and interesting fossils on our trips. We look forward to going again and again!
This place is hands down one of the most neat places that I have been to. There's two museum buildings, and two places to dig and find some pieces yourself. All while being free. You don't see that anymore. There is a really neat gift shop with all kinds of cool goodies. They will also help you identify what you find during your digs! Worth the 3 hour drive! Will be returning more for sure! Make sure you support this incredible place!
This museum is so cool. First it is FREE! There are really cool fossils within the several buildings. They have great volunteers who will even help you identify your shark teeth or fossils you bring in to them. There is a great gift shop and free places to hunt for sharks teeth and fossils. There are also a few lunch spots.
This is a great place for learning and family fun. The Fossil pit is my favorite. The gift shop is affordable and very friendly staff.
I love visiting the Aurora Fossil Museum! From the helpful staff, quality fossil specimens on display, and digging in the fossil pit areas, if you are student, parent, teacher, college professor, or just a curious person who wishes to learn more about our fascinating planet, the Aurora Fossil Museum is a treasure you need to visit!!!! And visit again! I learn something new and see something new every time I stop by during my summer beach vacation! It is well- worth the 700 mile drive! I love spending time learning from the staff, viewing the museum’s collection and of course finding 17 plus million year old coral and sharks teeth!!! The Museum is really a National Treasure!!!!
Aurora Fossil Museum and Fossil Park in Aurora, N.C. is a great place to visit with family and friends to learn about the natural history of eastern North Carolina and the "ancient ocean just under our feet". Enjoyed the Fossil Park where you can search for fossil and shark teeth, and whatever you find, you can take home. Admission is free, and great place to bring a picnic and enjoy the day.

Great little museum, with great exhibits of our region's natural history. Museum and Fossil Park are free, and make for a great family outing. Museum shop has a lot great gifts for fossil collectors.
My family love to visit the Aurora Fossil Museum we take a beach trip every year we can and always try an make a stop to visit the Museum. This year was no different the adults as well as my grandchildren enjoy going through the museum and this year they had another building that we went through. Everyone enjoy digging through the pits to find different kind of fossils. You can learn a lot from visiting here and it is free to go through the museum and digging. It is a very fun family adventure and the people running this place are so knowledgeable and friendly.
Everything associated with the Aurora Fossil Museum is the best. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and are willing to share that. The museum itself is small but mighty. And, then the dig - - - let's just say that my now 13 and 15 year-old describes our family visit as the best family vacation ever beating out Disney World, Niagara Falls, and on and on. And, they want to revisit Aurora! Two teenagers begging their parents for a family trip - this place is remarkable. Thank you AFM!
A unique, informal, educational, and fun nonprofit museum offering science for all through free admission and programming is a must-visit!
Self-paced educational exhibits introduce you to the natural history of the Aurora and Eastern North Carolina area. Outside, in the museum's fossil pits, visitors search for and discover fossils to keep. The fossil dig is the highlight of most visits, and taking home a genuine Aurora fossil as a reminder of spending the day at the Aurora Fossil Museum is a plus.
Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated!
A wonderful museum. Staffs are very nice. The fossil dirt is a lot of fun to dig. My daughter and I had a great time there, cannot wait to go back!
We really like this organization, the museum, and the super unique and awesome dig pits. While the museum is not huge, it has many interesting displays and a bit of history about the area. The dig pits are definitely one of the best parts of visiting. We spend hours sifting through the piles looking for those treasured teeth! The staff are always super friendly and love to answer our questions and frequently help identify many of the teeth and other fossils we find. We love visiting and it's definitely a major attraction for this cute town.
Aurora Fossil Museum is AMAZING!! I took my kids this summer for the first time and they were obsessed! So was I!
We loved it so much that we made the 7 hour drive again not even two months later!
We had so much fun digging in the pits and checking out all the awesome museum displays! The volunteers are so friendly and helpful! Aurora Fossil Museum truly is a gem and we can't wait to go back!
Aurora Fossil Museum is located in an extremely remote area of North Carolina and you have to be going there to find it. But the trip is more than worth the effort, and the large number of museum visitors from all over the U.S. and other countries will attest to that. While the museum's location is in one sense a disadvantage, it's also one of the museum's biggest advantages in that it's located near a phosphate mining operation in one of the historically richest areas for fossils in the country. It's a well-known and highly regarded destination for fossil collectors, paleontologists and geologists from across the country. The museum's extensive fossil collection and knowledgeable staff fascinate visitors, and through its programming and educational outreach the museum makes valuable contributions to the public in schools and other venues, both in its area and across North Carolina..
The Aurora Fossil Museum is worth going out of your way for. Far out of your way. We took an extensive detour on a whim to see this gem and to dig in its famous tailings piles, which were a sandbox of treasures. We live in the greater NYC area and most summers drive down to the Topsail area beaches for a week. our first visit to Aurora was magic. It was the inspiration for a fossil and rockhounding addiction for my youngest child and for me. This year the kids decided they have outgrown Topsail, but the youngest, now 16, asked if we could make the drive just to go to Aurora. One regret. The dog left a big bite in my cool Aurora baseball cap!
I have enjoyed visiting the museum and have utilized their outreach. This is a great teacher resource.
My husband and I have made the trip to Aurora Fossil Museum a couple of times. Each time, we always stay a little longer than planned because we are finding fossils and having a good time. Both times we took our finds to the office to get some help id’ing and were met with professionalism and respect with our amateurish questions. In addition, I have ordered four fossil kits of loose matrix for my grandchildren and students. A couple of years ago the museum even did a video call to take my students on a video tour of the museum. From a personal and educational standpoint, Aurora Fossil Museum checks all the boxes as a destination and teaching tool.
My family had a Wonderful time at the Aurora fossil museum! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more my husband and I or our boys.
Also the man who was working in the giftshop was Amazing! My son was stung by a wasp on the way in on his toe. He sat with him and held ammonia on his toe for a few minutes. He was so sweet. Thank you!
Aurora Fossil Museum is an absolutely amazing place for people of ALL ages. I first went back in late May. We have since gone back to this wonderful place 4 more times and plan to go tons. The employees are very helpful & educated & the museum is a wonderful addition to this town. Can't wait to see this wonderful establishment grow.
While traveling for vacation I found the Aurora Fossil Museum on line and scheduled a side trip with my husband and 2 teenagers. We were so impressed with the museum, displays and expert advice. Needless to say we all had a great time digging in the pits and so excited by our finds. I personally have always loved "discovering" things that no one else has seen before. It was awesome to find our treasures and we loved every discovery. This activity appealed to all of us and we have made sure to include the Aurora Fossil Museum in our subsequent trips when possible. I highly recommend this quaint museum for lots of unique fun and finds.
We found Aurora Fossil museum a few years ago. What a wonderful place! Every child in our country shoulds be allowed to spend a day there . When history is put in the hands of children they remember it forever. I fully support them. I pass out flyers to every family that come in my shop in Virginia, donate when I can, and visit as often as possible. This is one of the best non profits in our country! There is no other place that leaves more of an impression with children and adults. Most of all the people in charge share their time, knowledge, and love of sharks, fossils and treasure hunting with everyone. We wish for them to always be there to inspire the next generation and provide great family fun for years to come.
An amazing place where you can dig and find interesting item! Everyone can find shark teeth! You do not need to bring or buy anything, some teeth are right on top! You can bring your own shovel and sifter but they have some for use and the price is very reasonable if you want to buy your own. I highly recommend this place and I have several friends and family who can’t wait to come dig with us!!
The Aurora Fossil Museum is AMAZING!!
When you first walk in, they greet everyone with a smile.
After you have an opportunity to dig in their 2 pits, you can take any of your fossils that you may not recognize into the gift shop and they kindly look them over to help identify them. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and attentive.
My daughter has participated in 2 summer STEM camps through the Imagine NC program at the Aurora Fossil Museum.
This experience has been invaluable, impacting and extremely educational.
Last year, while at the STEM camp, my daughter was fortunate enough to find a prehistoric 3 toed horse's front tooth. Apparently, this is a very rare find and she donated it to the Museum to add to their exhibits.
This summer, the camp brought a professional basketball player, Amir Coffey who plays for the Los Angeles Clippers and his retired MBA father, Richard Coffey
to camp to surprise and inspire the attending 6th to 8th graders.
They also give MULTIPLE tours a week to schools, camps, homeschool communities, clubs and so much more.
I invited my homeschool community to the Museum and over 60 families participated. The museum does an incredible job of accommodating big groups.
The Aurora Fossil Museum is not only impacting these children, their community but the thousands of people that come from across the United States and Canada.
Excellent educational resource for all ages from grandparents to grandchildren. Displays are engaging, community activities "jawsome" and staff are outstanding at all levels. All of us enjoyed the hunt and discovery of sifting through the dirt from the phosphate mine, and we had a great time comparing our finds to the informational pictoral sheet we obtained when purchased a screen at the shop for our hunt. My son found a huge shark tooth, and that experience, holding a tooth from a giant creature alive millions of years ago, was so special for a lifetime. We showed it to the staff in the store and they confirmed his fossil! We also enjoyed the mineral displays in a satellite building.
We love the museum! Been there a few times. We live 7 hours away and make the trip each time we go to the beach. We love the fossil pits, and seeing the fb videos from Dr. George, which are informative and fun. Kids there seem to love learning about the past and I believe it gets them interested in the field. I am a nurse by trade, but enjoy learning about the aurora area and the fossils it produces. Can’t wait to go back!
My husband & I come here every year, if not multiple times to bring our friends & family to show them this wonderful spot. Aurora is a one-of-kind place & we are so grateful for that. Many other places with digs pits charge you 100s for a chance at one tooth. Here at Aurora you will go home with multiple teeth/fossils/shells guaranteed. The great people who work here will also help you identify them too. As always remember to do your part in keeping this amazing place alive. Donate! Visit the museum! (not just the pits) Attended events! Interact on Facebook!
This place is a gemstone and one day we will be able to bring our kids here. I can’t wait for that day. Thank you Aurora for all the memories, excited to make more!
I love spending the day digging for sharks teeth here! The museum staff is also very knowledgeable!!
I have an eye for finding shark teeth in the loose material piles out in their park. I like to find bigger teeth and give away to the kids digging away. The place has 2 fossil pits (1 shaded), a park and free admittance to the museum. There fossil collection and geologic and cultural history of the region is unmatched unless you pay for school tuition. I highly recommend a visit if you're interested in fossil hunting, geology/mining, or even an day out with the family. PLEASE visit there website for hours and information, don't rely on other sources for hours as they are not typically updated. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the gift shop has a variety of educational and neat memorabilia. I strongly recommend at least 1 visit, but I'm sure you'll go back for more. Have fun and maybe I'll see you there!
This place is amazing. It doesn't matter your age or interests there is something at the Aurora Fossil Museum that will get your attention. And if you like looking for sharks teeth, this is the place. The digging area is safe and open and makes it easy for a parent to watch their kids and look for fossils also. Fun for the whole family.
I had always wanted to visit the Aurora Fossil Museum. I liked their Facebook page and enjoyed looking at the pictures. Following an unexpected move to NC, I have not only had a chance to visit the museum and pits , but have also been fortunate enough to become a volunteer. The staff is incredibly dedicated, friendly, and knowledgeable. During the pandemic, they have packed and shipped countless bags of fossil material to collectors of all ages. Day in and day out, staff is equally thrilled to identify a find by an excited visitor. By relying on donations and not charging set admission, the Aurora Fossil Museum and pits are accessible to all. I am very proud to be a small part of this wonderful facility that provides so much to so many!
We absolutely loved this place !!!! We travel all over the USA in a travel trailer and this place was top of the list for knowledge and fun. Dr. George was a wealth of information about the items that we found in the pit. In all honesty there will be many a paleontologist that are created here. It truly is a remarkable place. Feel free to contact me at brunoeason@yahoo.com.
but when I was researching what else to do for our Outer Banks trip, I came across the Aurora Fossil Museum in NC. It is such a wonderful place. A rather small, free museum, that has two fossil pits outside. They get the material from a local mine and while many fossils and teeth are broken, it is a treasure chest! We all had so much fun and the staff at the museum was so nice! They even gifted my daughter a big Mako (similar to the one in the picture), because she had her birthday, the week before. The museum also has a gift shop that is absolutely reasonably priced!
This is a great spot to find one of a kind earrings made from fossils. Bonus is they are not expensive and make great gifts. You would definitely pay triple the price in an urban area for these goodies.
This is a great place to visit to learn about the fossils found near the coast. We really enjoy the idea of digging and finding fossils in the areas they have set aside. Fun for adults and kids alike.
Fascinating museum and digging pit! We were told about the Aurora museum at the welcome centre in Morehead City. When the receptionist told us we could find sharks teeth there, not at the beach, I was hooked. I had to see this marvel of nature. I did and I really enjoyed it! And, Yes, I found sharks teeth!!!
The Aurora Fossil Museum is a main Street attraction for young and old. I pastored the neighboring church and I also taught in the local school. It is a definite asset to the community.
As a little girl, I loved taking school trips to the Aurora Fossil Museum. I have always had a love of studying the earth and all it encompasses. Most people are not aware that fossils play an important role in studying earth's history and how it has changed over time.
Closely studying fossils provides clues to environmental timelines, which provide clues to the types of vegetation, soil, and water in the area during that time.
The Aurora Fossil Museum provides children with lively science lessons on fossils found in the surrounding area. They also have a mound, where children can search for ancient shark teeth and other small fossils.
The people who work in the museum show such great enthusiasm for what they do and teach children and adults alike about the fossils found in the area.
I love the layout and the way the guide talks about each fossil helps people envision what the animals could have been like.
If you never do anything else, you must take a trip to the Aurora Fossil Museum, in this quaint little town.

We just moved to Aurora and have been to the Fossil Museum a number of times. It is the best part of downtown Aurora. Our grandkids enjoyed the day very much - they bought buckets and t-shirts and wear them all the time.
This business is one of the main reasons we come into town. We won't hesitate to bring family members and visitors with us!
My boys absolutely love coming to the fossil pit. Not only do they get to play in dirt, but they get to find some amazing treasures while doing so. The staff is always so incredibly friendly and answer any off the wall questions my kiddos have.
Aurora Fossil Museum is an awesome place to take the family. We challenge our grand kids who can find the most teeth and other objects. Loved that during the Covid-19 shut down we were still able to enjoy the Museum from our home with the Aurora Fossil Survival Pack. We purchased a second box which we are saving from a rain day. Thank you and Happy Hunting!!
The fossil museum is a wonderful learning experience for school children as well as adults. Being able to have a hands on experience is the best opportunity for learning. Everyone enjoys digging and finding shark's teeth as well as other fossils and learning all the products that are a result of the phosphate that comes from the mines. Prehistoric history is best learned at the Fossil Museum. Congratulations for a job well done and many thanks for making history come alive and giving us the opportunity to enjoy and learn.
My daughter and I took her 3 kids, aged 8, 5 and 3, to the Aurora Fossil Museum. This is that truly rare location that's just as enjoyable for a 67 year old woman as a 3 year old boy, and everyone in between. First we toured the museum, which manages to be both educational and fun. And the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My 9 year old granddaughter had tons of questions and they were very patient with her. Of course the highlight of the day was digging and sifting in the fossil pits. Our excitement over the many sharks' teeth and fossilized bone fragments we found kept us there several hours longer than we planned, but we just scrapped our other plans and stayed! And the kids ran several of their finds back and forth over to the shop for help with identification, and were again treated with kindness and patience. Because we were so grateful and impressed (and could afford to) we made donations, but I was stunned to learn that this amazing place is actually FREE. For families with limited funds, it's an absolutely incredible resource ... actually, it's a incredible resource for everyone! Thanks, Aurora! I'm attaching a few pix, but note: this visit was pre-Covid -- hence the kids unmasked inside the museum.
My favorite place on the planet. Every time I come home to NC from my unit, I make a trip to Aurora. There aren’t many places out there that cater to the fossil-lover community, and Aurora does it best. They do an amazing job demonstrating the incredible natural history of our state to people of all ages.
Ive been to the Aurora Fossil Museum many times. My son absolutely loves going and checking out their fossils inside the museum. It is a wonderful collection. Outside we love searching for sharks teeth and have found some pretty nice ones over the years.
I have visited the museum over the years with my children and my grandchildren, they love it. The visits were educational and interesting. My youngest son and grandson and I went to the Museum Park to look for shark teeth, my grandsons first trip. My son went inside to buy Eli some teeth to find, by the time his dad got back, Eli had found more teeth than his dad had bought. Another time I was in Nashville, Tennessee at the VA Hospital having a Bone Marrow Transplant, when I told one of the nurses that I was from Aurora, NC, he said his young son wanted to go to the Aurora Fossil Museum, that it was interesting and he wanted to look for Sharks Teeth, but it was far away. It just so happened I had a Zip Lock Bag full of Sharks Teeth in my sweater pocket that my granddaughter had found, I pulled them out and sent them to the young man. His dad said he was really excited to get the teeth that had been found in the park and thanked me over and over, and my granddaughter too. Even now that my wife and I are older we ride by the park just to see the museum visitors.

I am from Aurora and have been a visitor at the Fossil Museum since it opened. Our little town has almost disappeared from the map but the museum has never stopped being a major part of our community. It always amazes me to see the
knowledge possessed by the museum employees and their eagerness to share it. Even during the pandemic, the museum found ways to keep some funds coming in. My grandsons in California loved their bags of micro fossil mix. I have bought so many tee shirts, caps, buckets, sharks teeth identification sheets and dug in the reject piles many times looking for “the” one. I now live in Florida. I always make it a point to stop at the museum when home. Keep up the good work.
One of my favorite places to visit in Eastern, NC. This museum is a must-see for fossil lovers and has a great collection. They also have a fossil pit you can dig in to find shark's teeth and fossils!
Been visiting for many years. Grew up.in aurora and remember going many times a week to look for sharks teeth and visit the museum. And once I got older, took my own kids to visit.
Small museum with a great collection of fossils. The main highlight is the material you can sift through to find impressive fossils to take home.
I’ve been to the Aurora Fossil Museum 3 times and have always found the museum employees helpful and enthusiastic. The displays inside and across the street are as good as you could find at any museum in the world. On top of that, there are 2 free search pits maintained for the public to safely enjoy searching for their own souvenirs. They are an amazing side trip to this corner of the state.
A wonderful adventure for the entire family! The Aurora Fossil Museum is a Great place to spend the day. The staff are friendly and eager to help identify found treasures from the pits. You can meet visitors and fossil enthusiasts from near and far. Digging the past in Aurora is definitely worth exploring!
My family and I visited Aurora and had the best time ever! We all dug in the pits and found fossilized teeth and vertebra. I think the adults had more fun than the child.
We then toured the museum and were amazed at the volume of information it held. We met the staff and one man captivated us for over an hour. Bought buckets to take home and t shirts. This place is a gem. Fully intend to go back again and again.
I have been going to the Aurora Fossil Museum for several years now. The museum and grounds are clean well kept and always working on new projects. I have met many friends while digging for teeth and fossils in the pits. The museum is very family friendly and accommodates the disabled. The real secret to the success of the museum in my opinion is the staff. The staff is always helpful and friendly.
The Aurora fossil museum is always one of our go to places when we have family in town, especially for the kids. The staff is always friendly and well informed. We highly recommend you stop in and see the great displays or go dig in the fossil pit.
The Aurora Fossil Museum is everything a museum should aspire to be. The staff know fossils and all are willing to spend time with you talking about not only what's in the museum, but also any fossilized shark tooth or other fossil you happen to bring in wondering what it might be. The best part of the museum is the gravel pit outside, in which you can find your own fossils, hauled over in dirt from the local phosphate mine. The exhibits inside are great, but they are best once you've found your own in the pit and then take it inside to learn about it. Finally, this museum is free and you get to keep anything you find.
The Aurora Fossil Museum is such a fun place to visit. The fossil pits are more fun than you can ever imagine. The museum itself is stocked full of very knowledgeable people that are more than willing to answer any question you may have. And lastly, the gift shop is full of awesome gifts that are very generously priced. You won’t regret visiting this place.
I LOVE the AFM! My kids are 7, 7 and 8 and they had a blast exploring the exhibits in the museum and digging for fossils. Even my parents loved it and can’t wait to go back. This is a MUST SEE and MUST DO museum!
Aurora Fossil Museum Foundation embraces the community they are apart of. They assist with school functions, community functions and are helpful to all. They are wonderful stewards of the area the Aurora Fossil Museum lives in.
One of the most exceptional and educational experiences on the east coast. We routinely drive 5 and a half hours one way from Virginia so that my family can experience this unique place where you have the ability to interact with history that is millions of years old. There are few places that capture the imagination like the Aurora Fossil Museum and the displays in their museum rival those in world class museums. We would happily pay for the experience that the museum offers to its patrons for free each and every day.
My grandchildren and I enjoy visiting the museum whenever they are in town. There’s always something new to learn and experience.
The Aurora Fossil Museum is a vital part of our small town. They host community and educational events, and they support other local groups and organizations.
I have been visiting the Aurora Fossil Museum for many years. It is a true gem! It is so much fun for folks of all ages to sift in the fossil piles and find sharks teeth and many other millions of year old artifacts and all for FREE! I absolutely love to visit and always learn something by exploring the museum and digging for hidden treasures. The staff is so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Dr. George is a fabulous resource and has helped me identify some of my finds. This summer I found 2 porpoise ear bones that he helped me identify. The gift shop has reasonably priced souvenirs and fossils. I can't say enough good things about the Aurora Fossil Museum! I can't wait to visit again.
Digging fossils in Aurora is one of my 7 year old son’s favorite things to do when we visit his grandparents/my parents in ENC. The location is clean and well kept. We enjoy the park grounds to have a picnic. The museum is fun and interesting. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly!
Love Aurora Fossil Museum. Very informative and educational and even better that visitors can dig to find their own fossils , shark teeth, etc. I’m sure children love it but so do I and I’m over 65! Staff is wonderful too.
I love this place! A small, very informative fossil museum. It even has "fossil pits" (areas outside containing fossiliferous material donated periodically by a local mine) where you can actually dig for your own sharks teeth and other fossils! The staff is happy to identify your finds. And it has a great gift shop.
The staff are knowledgeable and kind. This organization provides a perfect blend of fun and educational opportunities. We absolutely love visiting the Aurora Fossil Museum!
Aurora is a must visit destination!!! Amazing collection of fossils, incredibly knowledgeable folks to answer all you questions, awesome displays, great fossils to purchase and the best and rewarding time a family can have digging and sifting to 2 pits for shark's teeth and other fossils. We have never been disappointed and always leave with up to hundreds of teeth and other interesting finds. We always start planning our next trip on the way home!
We went to the museum and fossil pit in Early October 2021 and it exceeded our expectations. We found over 240 sharks teeth in a few hours. The museum staff were very helpful and the displays were informative. We will definitely come back!
My children love coming to visit the museum and dig in the pits. They have gained a love of fossil hunting and learning about shark teeth. I love the ‘hands on’ fossil finding experiences.
My husband & I love this place! We go a few times a year and find amazing things every single time. Highly recommend it to all ages! Make sure to check in at the gift shop & remember any donation helps
Interesting museum, friendly folks, and a chance to dig for shark teeth that are millions of years old. Highly recommended.
This is an awesome place to go and do something fun and free but learn at the same time. I am relatively new at digging for fossils but have learned so much already. The museum offers so much to all ages and the staff are some of the nicest people around. Ready to help and offer their tid bits of knowledge. Thank You!
For a small, non-profit museum in a small town of 500 people, AFM draws a big crowd! The director and staff do an excellent job of letting folks know what activities are going on, educating people of their finds and instilling the love of learning of the past through fossils.
This is a museum that is free and you get to take home your finds, no cost!! Who does that these days?? Folks dig in these piles for hours, hoping to find treasure!! You will not go home empty handed! Amazing finds! People come from all over to sift!
Aurora Fossil Museum is a family-friendly and educational treasure! Not
Only does it have an indoor exhibit to illustrate the history of different epoch, they make it fun by having a pit that you can dig and sift for your own fossils!
The Aurora Fossil Museum will always hold a special place in my heart. The staff is amazing as well as the exhibits. I fell inlove when I first moved to Aurora and now make memories with our daughter there. We even got married in the Museum and it was beautiful. I would not trade this experience for the world. So thankful to have somewhere safe and educational to take the kids.
