Mission: Marupo ACTS was born from the community's desire to eat cultural food from their homeland. Our founding directors, three University of Ann Arbor Alumni have a unique mix of perspectives on culinary nostalgia, representing groups such as - first-generation immigrants - first-generation-born Asian American - Community members fascinated and passionate about Asian culture Similar to how a Detroit-style pizza vastly differs from a Chicago Deep dish or NY style... "Asian Food" also comes in a myriad of flavors from different regions and prefectures. Marupo ACTS hopes to 1) Empower immigrant and Asian minority-owned businesses to SUPPLY these cuisines & 2) Educate the Michigan community by spreading awareness of different types of global cuisines to grow the DEMAND for them. We plan to accomplish this in 3 stages: [Early Stage] Educate the foodie community (eaters) through awareness, blog posts, and events and build a coalition of Asian food businesses that can mutually share resources and anecdotal experiences, while passing on non-profit discounted software offerings to our members. [Mid Stage] Create opportunities and events for foodies and Asian-owned food businesses to convene and buy/sell food. Think of Asian night markets or food festivals. [Late Stage] Tear down the barriers of entry for aspiring Asian food entrepreneurs by having Marupo ACTS operate a brick & mortar incubator kitchen and/or food court, as well as a fleet of delivery trucks/food trucks offered on a flexible short-term basis to Asian-Food Businesses
