Associated Charities of Lenawee County

Raising my granddaughter on my little social security is extremely rough, her mother did not have enough points for me to receive any social security for her. Associated charities have been a life saver.

This is a wonderful nonprofit whose goal is to help those families with low income. My favorite program of theirs is the “Back To School” where each child gets a backpack filled with supplies, new pair of shoes, socks, underwear, and an outfit!

I have been along time shopper. They let me volunteer and they treat me like family they are so awesome.Really good friends.

This place helped me tremendously when I was down on my luck. The director is an amazing person.

No problem dropping off gently used clothing. Also when I first moved to Lenawee County in 1984, I did not have a very good job and was worried about my two children having school clothes. My Mother told me about Associated Charities and they supplied all of the clothes my children needed. I will never forget that and have always donated what I could to them.

Associated Charities is the only nonprofit in our area that gives items, like clothing, some household items, as well as specialty items at no charge to the client. Persons actually shop for items they need. I have had first hand knowledge of how AC supports the community as I have sent as well as taken people who needed emergency help even after regular hours to be helped.

I love Associated Charities. I have sent many for their help as I have a lot of contact with underserved at my shop in downtown Adrian. At Christmas I gather as many items as I can find to donate for the children in need. It’s always been my pleasure to help when I can.

I utilized Associated Charities of Lenawee County when my children were young. They were a great resource when I needed it. Now that my kids are grown, and I’m in a better place, I like to volunteer and give back to them when my schedule allows. After all these years, they remain an unwavering staple in our community.

So thankful for this organization. They helped my family growing up and now I give back to them as much as I can.

In 1983, I moved here from southern Indiana with no job and two children. I was not sure how I was going to afford their school clothes. Associated Charities of Lenawee County gave them free gently used school clothes. My son is now a truck driver making good money and his sister is a nurse. I donate all of my gently used items to them. Thank you, Associated Charities.

ACLC does an incredible job of making sure those with the greatest need in our community have their basic needs fulfilled. They do this in a way that allows individuals and families to make decisions for themselves, by “shopping” for their own needs, at zero cost to the individual. The staff is caring and very in tune with each person who walks through their doors. ACLC is a great non-profit to support and it continually serves our community well.

I work as a volunteer and I have observed all the employees including the executive director work with integrity and helpfulness for the well being of their clients who are in the poverty zone. They love their work of giving away clothing, books and much needed miscellaneous.

Associated Charities provides low income families with the opportunity to shop at no cost to them with dignity to get items generously provided by the community. The staff is helpful and respectful of all consumers.

The Associated Charities of Lenawee County does an incredible job at adjusting to the needs of our community. The organization focuses on providing assistance for basic needs and helps individuals and families with clothing, shoes, household items, furniture, etc.. They also work hard to collect donations so that every family can enjoy the holiday season with a homecooked meal and a gift under the tree.

When it comes to enhancing the lives of community members, Associated Charities of Lenawee County is there to provide and help in any way possible.

The people are friendly the are like family to me. They take very good care of there clients. They don't need to change anything. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly.

Delight is a treasure to work with and serve on the board with. Even during this most trying of years. Delight has continued to keep the mission of the charity going and keeping everyone apprised of the happenings of the organization. I am proud to serve on the board for Associated Charities of Lenawee.

In a year full of uncertainty and upsets, Associated Charities has managed to continue their excellent support for Lenawee County clients. The staff accepted the challenges of taking donations and making distributions while ensuring the health and safety of the community. This organization has served the area for over 100 years through consistent and dedicated effort.

Great source of help for back to school clothing warm coats , new baby bundlles, towels twice a year. Gifts for children and food baskets at christmas. And daily distribution helps with clothing household items and shoes. Great programs great staff. Great help for these trying times

I have been associated with this Charity for over 30 years now in one form or another. Each year they improve upon the last, and that is saying a lot as they are so near perfection as it is. I knew of someone who had a child returning to in school sessions and the mom didn't have a way to pick up a back pack for her child. This mom has no transportation so is not a regular client of the AC. I called to ask if there was any way they could get this child a backpack and supplies for school if i could arrange someone to pick it up and deliver. The answer was an instant YES! That is what the Charities does for our community, daily!

I only donate to this charity because they give everything at no charge to those who need it.
The staff is so friendly and comes to my car and carries everything in for me.

I am so glad there is a place like Associated Charities to help people. I donate all of my items there and it is worth it because items are given away free to those that truly need it.

I went there for the first time ever this week and felt very welcomed, the staff was very nice and knowledgeable.

Associated Charities is a great place to get help when you need it! Michelle and June always make us feel so welcome and they never make us feel judged or less than equal human beings. My little family and I have had a tough year and I have been able to depend on Associated Charities to help us through these tough times. If it weren't for them, I don't know what I would do. The staff is amazing and have been so supportive, kind and empathetic. Instead of feeling like a burden for asking for help, I always walk out of the door feeling refreshed and loved. Our community is blessed to have them!

When we were growing up you provided our only Christmas and Thanksgiving meals.Also recieved one toy and dress at Christmas.Would have been a very sad holiday without the Associated charities. God bless.

Associated charities helps many people who are down on their luck. They have helped me in getting things that are not affordable for me. Their Keep Lenawee Warm program supplys me with a nice warm coat every year.

I enjoy going there and seeing all the friendly, helpful people. If u need help and they can't do they will get u help. My husband is a very big on reading, so they tell me I can't leave without taking some books. LOL!. As you may know they can be costly, so he is very grateful for them. Otherwise I have been able to get some very nice things from my very first set of dishes to lots of different item's. I also refer people to them for programs, and to donate their. Thanks for all you Do! I do wish there would be a lower price for patrons to pay so they could enjoy the fundraiser as well!

I've been with Associated Charities almost 4 years now. And their staff is some of the most good hearted people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. And what the charities accomplished on only donations is a miracle.
They don't charge a cent to qualified low income people. And the programs they have are fantastic. They have birthday gifts for 1 to 10 year olds. Baby bundles for newborns. Clothes and supplies for back to school. Christmas gifts and stockings. Decorations for all the holidays. So come in and sign up, donate, or volunteer. They very much appreciate anything to help or to help those in need.

Supported thru grants and donations The Charities assists our community with clothing and housewares provided thru donations. It is an efficiently run organization meeting the needs of qualifying families. Special programs provide school supplies and Christmas gifts.

Associated Charities is the example of a great nonprofit. We are the only nonprofit around that provides clothing at no cost to our clients. We're able to do that because of the generosity of our community!

Efficiently run through grants and donations from the community, the organization assists our low income community. Clothing and other donated items are sorted and displayed in the "store" where clients may shop. Items not usuable by the organization are "paid forward" to other organizations.

Just dropped off donations. Building looks great and staff is so friendly and helpful.

One of the best things about the charities is that they give away all items that are donated there is no reselling of the items which ensures that those clients who need their services are able to get the items that they need without spending their very limited resources. The staff of the Charities goes out of it's way to be kind, and respectful to every patron. Giving a helping hand to those in our community with dignity.

Associated Charities is one of Lenawee's longest running non profit organizations. They provide clothing and household items to those in need, free of charge. The shopping experience they provide is top notch. There are several fundraising events held throughout the year to allow this program to continue to serve the community and give back. Proud to have them in my town.

Today was the last day of Back to School shopping and I was privileged to be one of the volunteers helping. The Charities is set up to resemble a department store, families come in and pick out Two outfits,shoes if available, New undies, New socks and backpac for each child. They chose what they want , their favorite colors and styles. Today I was honored to watch a young girl come in, shy and quiet and leave with a huge smile on her face because she found a pair of shoes she loved and made her feel special. This is why The Charities is such a special place, it is set up to allow the people who use it to keep their dignity and to leave with a smile on their face.

Associated Charities of Lenawee County has been assisting residents for over 100 years. They always give Lenawee County residents a chance to better themselves when it is needed. All the donations in the store are free to those who want to be a part of the program. Especially with special programs they have throughout the year for special services. For example, Toys for Lenawee; Back To School program; and many more.

I love the fact they are always pleasant and helpful when I stop to drop off donations.

Born & raised in Adrian I have always heard of Associated Charities & all the good they do. As an adult I have had the privilege of sitting on the board for 6 years. Have loved volunteering over the years & helping with special events to raise money. I am most impressed with the fact that all assistance they give is free.

Clothing, household items, toys etc. given without charge to those in need. A Birthday Closet to provide a party or gift for small children. Special programs for "Back to School"( 2 complete new or gently used outfits, shoes, underwear and socks), "Keep Lenawee Warm" (coats, blankets, hats, scarves and gloves), Thanksgiving and Christmas programs too. All provided by friendly, helpful staff. A pleasant place to visit or volunteer and a definite asset for those who are experiencing difficulties. The Charities is funded solely with grants and donations.

The Charities helps so many residents in Lenawee County. Whether they need help with Back to School, Christmas or their everyday needs, Associated Charites strives to help them the best way they can. Working at the Charities definitely gives you a sense of pride, our clients are always so grateful and always have smiles on their faces when they leave.

I have had a great time working here the team members are great. I love helping our clients and being able to give back to the community. everything runs smooth here. it has been amazing being a part of this team.

Associated Charities provides clothing and household necessities at no cost to community members in need. They also have special distributions for Back to School, winter coats and Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are good stewards of the donations from our generous community and treat clients with respect and dignity. Associated Charities has been serving Lenawee County residents for over 100 years!

When we were passing out the back to school backpacks it was a day of smiles. I was smiling and the kids ,Moms and Dads were happy. I have a feeling Christmas will be full of joy.

After having a very normal life my husband and I hit some hard times and went to jail. When I got out I felt like a complete failure until Work First hooked me up with Associated Charities to work for the cash money I received every month and when that ended they let me stay on to work off my court fines. I like to help the holiday season so much joy when they see what they get for there children. A lot of work goes into keeping this place going that people just don't see.

Everyone here is so friendly every time I come in. They help me if I need it. I am blind and they are very respectful of that.

They have helped me provide Christmas presents, warm winter clothes and many other things for my family. I don't know how I'd manage holidays without their help some years. I am very greatful.

In December 2014 after retiring from a medical career of 39 years I walked into ACLC with the idea of "Giving Back". I began volunteering in January 2015 and look forward every week to spending Wednesday working with the the dedicated employees and volunteers at Associated Charities. What we do for the community and those in need is SO important. To Delight, Jean, Michelle, Ricardo, Ashley, JoAnn and all of the others that I work with at ACLC, I am so
proud to be a part of an organization that gives from the heart and treats every donor and recipient with gratitude, respect and dignity.

Associated Charities has been a blessing to the Lenawee County community for over 100 years. I frequently volunteer for special distribution days and witness first-hand the way clients are treated with respect and dignity. Each year our generous community seems to contribute more and higher quality items that low-income families can choose at no cost. Along with the daily distribution, Associated Charities provides warm clothing for winter, Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas gifts and back-to-school items.

Associated of Charities of Lenawee County is a truly wonderful organization when it comes to helping those in need. On top of the daily routine of offering clothing and household to families for FREE, they hold special events throughout the year such as back to school and during the holiday seasons. The store is clean and organized making it easy for people to come and shop. Shoppers are treated with dignity and respect, as is part of the mission statement of ACLC.

I was asked to be on the board last year and I have been more impressed knowing the inner workings of this organization than I even was with all the incredible things they did for me as a community member! I kept me connected with ACLC through both church and work. ACLC was instrumental in the Christmas Connection where they partnered with our local church to distribute over 250 filled Christmas stockings to local children. ACLC also partnered with a college student driven group to provide 25 children the first year, and 50 children this past year with $50 dollars worth of a special Christmas morning! This is a fantastic organization helping those in need in the local community through fulfilling some of the basic human needs and provisions as well as their welcoming spirit, love and caring for so many people that come through their doors!

Associated Charities helps so many in all of Lenawee County.. Back to school, Christmas presents, food, clothing. They show no partiality to anyone. Always a helping hand to those in need..

I currently work for Associated Charities and it is by far the greatest place I have worked for. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff is amazing. It's a great feeling being able to help others and I feel like all the staff, myself included, has made a connection with our clients, donors and volunteers that come in everyday. There are so many programs offered to help others and seeing the look of joy and appreciation on the clients faces everyday is so rewarding.

I just went to the Back to School program and it was wonderful. I received new clothing and school supplies for my daughter. As a single Mom on a limited income it means a lot to me. Thank you to everyone at Associated Charities.

As a client of associated charities for 25 years and now an employee, I cannot say enough great things about them. As a low income working family it has been a lifesaver to our family. We received help from the daily distributions of clothing ad household miscellaneous items to help with coats and blankets from the Keep Lenawee Warm program which gives out coats , boots mittens,gloves and blankets to Lenawee County families. We also received help with Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas baskets as well as toys and stocking stuffers a Christmas distributions. What a blessing they have been to our family and members of the community. On a Sunday afternoon I had a woman and her two children approach me. She and the girls and her husband were living out of their car, as money had run out and they no longer had a home or could afford a hotel.
The Tecumseh Service Club was the first place I thought to call. I know they provide food through a pantry, as well as financial help for those dealing with hard times. Within 4 hours they had a hotel room for the woman and her family for the night, as well as a warm meal for everyone provided by Big Boy of Tecumseh. In addition, they were able to provide the woman with additional resources where she could turn to for help.

Considering this organization is completely run by volunteers and relies on the prompt reply of individuals from their homes I was very impressed.

Working with at an at-risk teen population and their families, I see how much the services of Associated Charities is used and appreciated. Our community is very fortunate to have this this type of facility in our county!

I often donate to this organization. They have caring people that reach out to our community to assist in many ways.

I think that ACLC does a great job for the community. I think Lana Archer is a great given person. She does a great job no matter what she does. And great to work with. ACLC has great workers they are so polite and helpful.

Associated charities of Lenawee county impressed me so very much when I became a donor to them. I had very good used clothes and household items and they were treated with respect and not just thrown in a pile. I had taken the time to clean them and iron them so that anyone receiving them would not have to worry about not using them right away. The people are sincere and honest in their positions and the people that they serve do not feel that they are receiving charity. The best part? Anyone in need can receive what they need without cost. A truly worthy organization worth supporting.

Lana Archer is one of the greatest individuals around. I highly praise her and all the work she accomplishes on a daily basis.

Today I took two of my consumers to AC. They cannot afford to purchase clothing and AC had an amazing selection for them to choose from! The registration process was quick and easy and did not make them feel bad or judged about their situation. I could not be happier with the services offered!! I will definitely refer more of my consumers to this organization!

I have been a client at ACLC for a while now and I cannot express how helpful it has been for me. I am a full time college student and I barely make it through each week with groceries, let alone clothes and needed items for myself and my four year old daughter. Without ACLC I would be struggling to put warm clothes on my daughter and find toys and things she needs. ACLC is always there for us all year round and I am very thankful.

Assocatied charaties of lenawee county is a great place and very helpful with assisting people who are on low income with items such as clothing, furniture, household wares, toys, shoes, ect. You are allowed to visit 3 times a month. The people are very friendly and helpful to assist individuals with things that they need. They all do an excellent job helping serve others in need in the county of lenawee. If you are in need of something I highly recommend them not only will they help you get things you need but they will also help in assisting you in other directions for help if needed. They also provide wonderful assistance for the holidays such as thanksgiving and christmas to make sure families are not left without for the holidays and provided food baskets and gifts to certain age requirements.. as well as helping families who need back to school items. Great job to all the staff at charaties, such as delight, and brenda for keeping things well organized. They are very very helpful .

I have the pleasure of going to the charities 3 x a month. i have been going here since 17 yrs ago. this place has really changed for the better it is very clean and organized. very extrememly helpful as far as getting all varieties of stuff. the staff there is awesome!! . they greet you with a smile and make sure you find anything you are in need of. the weds hours is all i can shop so the later hours are great, . because i work during the days. they have helped me with my kids to have a great christmas, with school shopping, backpacks clothes when i have been struggling. , appliances. many other items. if you need it they will try their best to help you live a comfortable life in our community. . i work at an elementary and they r very good at helping out our local schools. for coats and blankets in the winter to back packs and school supplies before school starts. . not just any blankets or coats, nice and clean things. this place has been a huge influence in mine and my kids life. I truly think this is extremely beneficial for our community. i send people here all the time if they qualify. the staff there who are in charge have really changed this organization for the better such as sorting things by size so you dont have to dig through things everything is om hangers and laid out so you can see the item clear. . its just like shopping at a regular store. very great job those ladies do!! and the volunteers in their who serve our community . thank you soo much for bringing such a great thing to help out our community!! i will continue going there. so please keep the later hours on wednesday. thank you for helping our community. you all try and do such a great job!!

I have had the privledge of being involved at ACLC as a volunteer. Observing firsthand the outstanding performance of Administration, Staff and Board Members. Families shop for needed essentials with dignity. Children may choose toys and books. All items are new or gently used. The "Birthday Closet" helps parents provide a nice birthday for their child. Special programs are in place for year round community support. I am proud to be a part of this organization.

ACLC is a LOCAL charity serving LOCAL needs. Their work is rather diverse, but one thing it all shares in common is the potential it has for encouraging a sense of personal dignity for their clients. This is, hands down, the thing I most admire about the organization. I also deeply appreciate how they go about their work, keeping overhead costs as low as possible to ensure that more proceeds go directly to benefiting their clients, and striving to collaborate with other local charities and not-for-profit organizations to reach the greatest number of people in need in our community.

ACLC is an amazing organization that I am so proud to be a part of. I joined the board because I wanted to use the talents and gifts that God has given me to help others. ACLC helps people for free. There is no cost for individuals who need assistance from ACLC. The members of this organization work so hard to help as many people as possible through the many programs that we run.

ACLC allowed me to volunteer, learn new skills and be able to meet my high school/volunteer requirements for college applications.
