Hidden Gems is led by a dedicated woman in service to her community. This program, through her service and ideas, has grown over the past few years to really find a niche in Brooklyn and surrounding communities. As a donor we are proud to be a part of this non-profit and are continually impressed with its ability to grow and adapt, and develop young people. Hidden Gems offers archery instruction to the youth in the area. Why is this so good, because archery as a sport appeals to so many young people plus it provides them with the opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment, learn a skill, develop problem solving techniques, improve math skills, grow as an individual and even feel a part of a team. Archery is a sport that can be especially important in developing that feeling of success for kids that do not participate in mainstream sports and for those that face physical and/or social challenges, it also appeals to a broad spectrum of youth and brings them all together to share their triumphs and disappointments. Hidden Gems is more than just an archery program it is really a program to show youth the value of themselves and of each other; that each one of them is hidden gem.
Hidden Gems, Inc. is currently working in community around New York City to bring archery to youth and adults. It is a commendable task to bring the family around family-oriented activities. The volunteers are, and I am a part of the volunteers, are very enjoyable to work with and this includes teachers, community based organizations and other archery enthusiasts are going to do great things int he next couple of years. So, please keep us in your thoughts and feel free to come to an event.
