I cannot begin to express how life-changing adopting my Iggy (Kopi) has been. Coming home to his wagging tail, goofy smile, and unconditional love has improved the quality of my life considerably. I know it sounds cliche, but I cannot imagine what life would be like without an Italian Greyhound in it.
My search for an Iggy started over a year ago when my husband and I decided that we wanted a companion for our dog, Piper. I had researched the breed and knew that an Iggy would be the perfect addition to our family. I was determined to rescue, so I turned to the California Italian Greyhound Rescue. I got in touch with Roxann and completed the application process. I was ecstatic when she informed me that our application was approved! I took comfort in the fact that the IGCA took great care in matching IG's to the perfect home. Knowing that there is an organization out there dedicated to helping re-home Italian Greyhounds filled me with a restored faith in humanity.
Our entire experience adopting Kopi was wonderful. I thank the universe every day for bringing both dogs into my life, but I am especially grateful to Roxann and the IGCA for the role they played. I whole-heartedly support this organization and I can only hope that the search for my next Iggy will be with them.
We have been IG owners for nearly 20 years and have had 2 amazing rescue experiences with the Southern California IG Rescue Foundation, specifically Roxann. She is absolutely the best. When we lost our first IG after 12 loving years Roxann was able to find our grieving boy a new sister that he adored and his sister helped him through his loss (and ours). After we lost both IG's she found us the most amazing twins, they have truly been a godsend and healed our grieving hearts. We cannot say enough about the amazing and dedicated volunteers of Southern California Italian Greyhound Rescue.

We lost our IG in February. Our other IG was lost without her brother. IG Rescue in Arizona found us the most incredible IG. He has even helped calm down our little girl. Not only was Dawn wonderful, but we received our new IG with all his shots and dental at no cost to us. Now our little girl has cancer and has been given 3 months to live. Roxann from IG Ca has helped us to adopt another IG. This one was out of state, and Roxann, and Pam helped us to have another happy ending. We have donated in the past and are doing so again. This is an incredible group of living people who give their time for free. Please help this organization to continue to care for these incredible dogs.

We have been owned by Italian Greyhounds for over 13 years! When one of our girls was lost to kidney failure several years ago we turned to the Italian Greyhound Rescue group to find another playmate for our long time male. They were great to work with and made sure that even we as owners would make good adopters. They do not just send the rescues out to a new home without making sure that it will be a good fit for both you and the dogs. We have just this past week adopted our third IG from the local Greyhound Rescue group and would never think of going to anybody else to adopt a dog. (We did foster an IG for several months and he turned out to be our second adoption.........can't let them go!) This is a great group dedicated to the well being of any and all IG's that they can rescue and find good homes for. Keith and Mary
We adopted from the Italian Greyhound Rescue in FL. The process was smooth & the people are so easy to work with. We already had an IG & knew we wanted another. We adopted Charm & she is a wonderful addition to our family. She received all of the vet care she needed before coming to us which in turn affected how long we had to wait for her. But, the wait was so worth it! They love & care for all of these dogs & it definitely shows. We love our fur babies & would definitely adopt from Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation again.
When looking for our new family pet we knew we wanted an Italian Greyhound. I refuse to purchase from puppy mills...so was nice to find a rescue that specialized in the exact dog we were looking for. They found us not one, but two! We love our Iggy's!
IG Rescue Gulf Coast changed my family's life by helping us adopt the perfect IG for our family. They were informative, kind and very helpful throughout the entire placement process. I highly recommend them for your IG adoption interests!
The Italian Greyhound Rescue Association is close to my heart seeing as my little girl (with fur and four legs!) was adopted from there. IG's are a very unique and fragile breed and it is important that owners do their research before adopting one. The IG rescue in HI was thorough and there were several steps to complete the adoption- even though we already owned an IG! We were very excited because we wanted to adopt and help dogs in need but we were committed to the fantastic breed of our other dog. Echo, our pup, was in a tough situation when she entered IG rescue. She needed lots of care and rehabilitation before she was ready to be adopted. IG rescue gave her that and only when they felt she was ready was she put up for adoption. You can really tell that they loved her (and all of their rescues) like their own. We love our dog and we also love the support that IG rescue gives us still. We hope to foster other rescues in the future!
Nebraska IG Rescue it truly a blessing not only to the dogs but to everyone wanting to adopt. I have adopted two amazing dogs from the rescue and I recommend anyone who asks about my dog to them. I adopted Sophie in 2012 and discovered shortly after getting her she was in renal failure. They were supportive when I got the news and oftered to help with getting another dog if she passed suddenly. She lived until April 2014 and it was the best two years I could have ever hoped for despite her being sick. After she passed I adopted Kozi May 2014 and he has been true blessing. The rescue is full of amazing people who truly make a difference for all dogs that are blessed to find their way to them. Having my dogs helped me some through some dark days and I never would have been blessed to have them if it wasn't for Nebraska IG Rescue.
I both volunteer for and have adopted from IG rescue (have dealt with the national club as well as South Texas, North Texas/Oklahoma, and Houston area groups). The group has a fantastic network of volunteers who are all dedicated to finding loving permanent homes for this breed. Whether it be fundraising, veterinary care, mental/social well being of the dogs, screening potential adopters or finding the right dog for the right home, this group does it all. They also do it very well and with enthusiasm and compassion! Additionally they have great guidelines to ensure that the money they get is spent where it will do the most good.
