Mission: The impetus for the VDA came in 1993 when Minh Thi Dai returned to her rural home village Tan Hiep, Tien Giang Province, Vietnam for the first time since 1975. VDA was incorporated on 11/21/95 for the express purpose of aiding and assisting inhabitants of underdeveloped, economically depressed communities in Vietnam by providing services to improve education, health, and economic development. This mission is achieved with an all volunteer staff and donated overhead facilities. All funds raised by VDA are used solely to support projects and program services in Vietnam. Minh now serves as Executive Director of VDA and has put together a Board of Directors that are dedicated to the vision and mission of the non-profit organization. VDA received their fully qualified 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service in 1996. Minh and the Board of Directors seek to raise public awareness in Minnesota to the plight of those less advantaged in Vietnam. This is done through the organization's annual benefit dinner, newsletter, newspaper articles, speaking engagements at local schools and churches, and the soon to be developed website.
