Mission: The Mission of Urban Resource Systems is to provide leading edge solutions for supporting, developing, and sustaining vital urban assets such as neighborhood parks, community gardens, green open space, and other resources that are essential to the urban environment, launching a renaissance of community activism and involvement that will ensure that these assets will be preserved and sustained for future generations.
Programs: The Neighborhood Parks Council (NPC) is our flagship program and has become one of the premier citizen mobilization organizations in the United States. NPC recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and has grown into a coalition of community-based park groups actively involved in improving neighborhood parks throughout San Francisco. Since 1996, NPC has grown to include 120+ park groups and 4,000 park volunteers, establishing itself as San Francisco?s premier park advocacy group. The Blue Greenway is a unifying process concentrating on the 13-mile long corridor along San Francisco?s southeastern waterfront. The Blue Greenway will link established open spaces; create new recreational opportunities and green infrastructure; and provide much needed linkage of the San Francisco Bay Trail, the San Francisco Bay Water Trail, and green corridors to surrounding neighborhoods. ParkScan is a community-initiated, Web-based reporting system that tracks maintenance conditions in San Francisco?s parks and playgrounds. ParkScan has been helping improve neighborhood parks and playgrounds since 2003.
