Target demographics: Small businesses, typically with less than 12 employees, in challenged global communities.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 77,000 impoverished recipients received business donations of goods, services, and/or job training over the last 2 years. 101 currently active Thriive small businesses created 501 new full and part-time jobs over the same time period.
Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Spread the word about our innovative pay-it-forward program via social media--Facebook, Twitter, or whatever you use most often!
Geographic areas served: Vietnam, Kenya, Palestine, and Nicaragua
1) with charitable donations of job training, products, and services by Thriive businesses to vulnerable community members;
2) by helping Thriive businesses create new jobs, providing the best way out of poverty; and
3) by creating a culture of business-led community philanthropy.
In 2011-2012, 101 small businesses in the Thriive family across our 5 global programs served over 77,000 of the most vulnerable in their communities with donations of job training, products, and services; created 618 new full and part-time jobs, and saw over 52% of fully repaid Thriive businesses voluntarily continue with community charity.
