Reviews for Semper Fi Community Task Force

Rating: 5 stars

This is a Great organization. I volunteered to help drive the Veterans and their spouces to their hotel on arrival at the airport, SFCTF had arranged people to welcome the Veterans and spouces. The welcoming was a very special event for the comunity and the Veteran. I think more money is spent on this annual event than is donated by the public, by that I mean the members of SFCTF give a lot of their time and own money to make this a great event.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Semper Fi Community Task Force is a 501(c)(3) non-profit set up to assist service members of all branches transitioning to civilian life. They honor the service member and their families. Each November, SFCTF hosts a 5-7 day "Heroes' Week" celebration in conjunction with Veteran's Day Parade in Huntsville, AL where 30-60 service members and their spouses/caregivers that missed their "Welcome Home" event due to combat injuries, are given that opportunity to be in a parade, attend a black tie function, a day boat cruise, receive counseling and be appreciated for serving our Nation. SFCTF pays for travel, lodging, meals and event fees at not cost to the service member or tax payer. SFCTF is a total volunteer run charity, no volunteers/Board Members are paid or receive compensation.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Many of the SFCTF volunteers are Vietnam veterans who were not given a "Welcome Home" parade or event. By participating, they now feel apart of America and are appreciated for their sacrifice given 35 yrs ago. SFCTF was founded by veterans for veterans. We are very small by charity standards in funding and members but the Soldiers, Marines and spouses that have attended "Heroes' Week" have said that they could not believe the support and affection given by SFCTF, the citizens of North Alabama.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Support for SFCTF has grown each year. Donations have increased from $44k in 2007 to $76K in 2008, then jumped to $97.9K in 2009. We are in track to exceed over $130 in 2010. SFCTF provides Wounded Warriors a one-of-a-kind experience to reconnect with our Nation and be appreciated by citizens that know the level of sacrifice given when serving America in time of war and peace.
