Mission: The Mission of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation is to support the San Antonio Public Library and to increase the awareness and use of the Library through financial support and programmatic efforts, thereby enhancing the community"s appreciation and utilization of the Library as a cultural and educational institution. Strategic planning meetings conducted in 1997-98 identified the expansion of the Library"s collection and greater access to electronic information as goals of the highest priority based on both intensifying local demand and recognition that the system is lagging behind national standards.
Programs:

Programs include:  Better Futures/Mejore Futuro providing scholarships for advanced degrees in library services; Born to Read providing 25,000 free literacy kits to every baby born in Bexar County; Les Seras Caravan providing parent training for early literacy; fundraising activities including Liteary Feasts, CPS Energy Envelope campaign; Children's Book and Author event, Copyright Texas featuring well-known authors.
