CAI programs and projects empower children and adults to work together to solve individual and community problems by applying the arts as a catalyst for personal and institutional change. Through the arts, participants develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that deal with immediate problems such as youth violence or the isolation of elders. But these skills are internalized and can be applied to other life situations to improve the quality of life. CAI's primary audience is low income, inner-city youth, parents, educators, and community service professionals.
