Programs: The Melon Patch Theater has developed and encourages a children's theater group -- Patchwork Productions. Patchwork students gain knowledge about all aspects of the theater. Patchwork has had two public productions of its own this season. Also, several of the Patchwork students were part of main stage productions. This summer, a workshop will be held to learn show production; a performance of that show will be presented at the workshop's conclusion. “Nightingale” will be presented by our children’s theater – Patchwork Productions, at the conclusion of the 2010 Summer Program. Patchwork enhances youth enjoyment, develops creative expression, and embraces the arts as an integral part of family and community development. Scholarships are also offered to students who would not otherwise be offered the opportunity to participate in the arts. The Patchwork Productions’ offerings are chosen to afford drama and experience of live theater to the greatest number of children of different ages, talents, and cultural backgrounds. The list for the upcoming year is still under development

Melon Patch Players and the Melon Patch Theater are a true community theater organization and we have just celebrated our 60th continuous season. My family is very involved including my wife and three of our four children. This organization and the many talented thespians, volunteers and board members have transformed our lives. I cannot imagine not being part of this special place and these special people.

The past year has been very successful for us as we hosted a 60th anniversary diamond jubilee gala, we evolved our marketing to include social media, the theater just had a brand new sign installed, and we're about to implement a new computer system and ticket selling software. Our 2010-2011 season was very well received and we have an outstanding slate of shows for 2011-2012.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would love to see more volunteers at every level. Most times just a few core people do most of the work, so I would like to see even more people devote their time and energy to the Melon Patch. We have a lot of plans, so we need you.
