GASP works to advocate for smoke-free air by promoting smoke-free policies in public places, restaurants, and at work. Secondhand smoke the third leading cause of disease and death in the US and kills more than 53,000 Americans each year.It's not the smoker we mind; it's the smoke. People should not be forced to breathe tobacco smoke. Smoking is optional; breathing is not. GASP has: Helped pass more than 50 local laws restricting indoor tobacco smoke pollution.Educated the public about the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Encouraged hundreds of restaurants and bars to adopt smoke-free policies.Provided technical assistance to communities seeking to pass smoke-free laws.
