Review for WeSPARK Cancer Support Center, Sherman Oaks, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I attended WeSpark as a post treatment cancer patient and my experiences there were so healing. It was literally my bridge back to a new sense of myself. I participated in many of the classes, (yoga, creative writing, mindfulness meditation) workshops, seminars, jewelry making evenings and healing energy work there. I felt so embraced in a safe soft harbor and was in such a raw emotional and physical place that I feel it really was the key to my recovery after being thru so much trauma and illness, sadness and fear. I cannot say enough about the loving kindness and the staff at WeSpark. I remember thinking - everyone needs a place like this - not just when you're ill or recovering, but when you're well and strong - imagine a safe harbor that nurtures you from the inside out. It was the safest place I've ever been before - a huge and wonderful gift in my life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my recovery from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, from post traumatic stress and emotional devestation from my illness. The writing class especially was so cathartic in my healing and in sharing with others - also the post treatment support group to connect with others with the same experience.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Less rigid in some ways than it was when I first attended and more parking!

What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?

The unconditional acceptance, the listening and sharing with others from the same place/experience fear and healing. I liken it to being a war veteran. NO one gets it like the people that have suffered thru it. The creative writing and the post treatment discussions really were a life line to me in my recovery like nothing else.

Role:  Client Served & Participated in writing class, yoga, healing energy appts., meditation, jewelry nights, bio feedback and more.

WeSpark was the biggest part of my healing process after my battle w/Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was at WESPARK that I was able to come back to my new life post treatment. I was given the opportunity to be with like minded others at such a crucial time in my life - there is no greater healing that to be in a place of compassion and understanding after so much fear, illness and trauma. WeSPark is such a loving comforting place full of creative outlets, creative writing, support groups, workshops, yoga, bio feedback, energy work and so much more. We are so lucky to have a place like this - I can't say enough as to how it enabled me to get thru the hardest part of my life.
