Review for Generation SERVE, Austin, TX, USA
Little Helping Hands partners with Refugee Services of Texas to shop for and set up apartments for refugees resettling in Austin. LHH is always organized in it's volunteer recruitment, provides nutritious snacks for the volunteers, and provides a volunteer opportunity that is educational for the volunteers (part of the activity is involves a short discussion of what a refugee is, the process of how they get to America, the cultural challenges they face, etc.) and of great service to the community. In a community with an abundance of not-for-profits, LHH is unique and fills a great gap in opportunities for service for youngsters.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Seeing how beautiful the apartments turn out that Little Helping Hands helps to set up, and hearing the response from the caseworkers from the families that see their first homes in America that were lovingly set up by Little Helping Hands volunteers. Some of the families bring gently used and new items to help decorate the apartments and provide clothing and playthings for the children arriving.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Help them find more funding so they could have even more activities for the volunteers.
