Review for Assistance League of Tucson, Inc, Tucson, AZ, USA
I have been a volunteer with Professional Association of Womens Services, an auxiliary of The Assistance League of Tucson for 11 years. Our main program is to provide child safe teddy bears to children in crisis in hospitals, and many social service offices, including Southern Arizona Child Advocacy Center. This year we supplied these agencies with 1500 teddy bears and each year, sadly, the number increases. It is our goal to give some comfort to the children, that receive these bears, at a time when they are under unbelievable circumstances. Another program is the provision of snack foods for children undergoing interviews at Child Advocacy Center. Age appropriate, new books are donated to refugee children in one of our school districts and also to Parents as Teachers.
Funding for our programs comes from our annual Teddy Bear Tea, a typical High Tea that occurs early in October each year.
