Review for Children's Cancer Connection, Johnston, IA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Our son was diagnosed with ALL in January of 1994 when he was 8 years old. The Heart Connection was a blessing for our family in that it gave my wife and I much needed repite time when our son went to their oncology camp. He always had a fantastic time at camp and every year he would watch for the camp application in the mail so he wouldn't miss getting into camp. This is a wonderful organization that also provides a camp and other programs for siblings of chilren living with cancer. Many times the siblings feel left out because so much attention is focused on the child with cancer. Just a wonderful organization that does so much good in our world!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

making families, siblings and oncology patients feel needed and loved. The Heart Connection provides wonderful support of all parts of the family.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Keep working to find more and more programs to offer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

loving and care shared by volunteers, participants and staff.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

loving, caring, nurturing and very giving of themselves. They are awesome people!!!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide more programs for both children living with cancer, siblings and the parents. There is an unlimited list of ideas for more programs to offer. We could have a winter time camp. We could provide sports programs for kids with cancer, etc.

Ways to make it better...

Can't think of anything.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding sources to keep providing programs.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This organization provides wonderful support and programs for families of children living with cancer.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
