Review for Christopher's Haven, Boston, MA, USA
Christopher's Haven has grown from a brilliant idea to provide a community for children fighting cancer to a true and wonderful actuality. It has grown from the idea of Dan Olson, founder and a number of the board members and donors who got in early and worked very hard to make it happen. Now CH houses entire families if needed for the entirety of their radiation treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital. Children come from all over the world to be treated with proton radiotherapy at MGH who has the largest and deepest experience treating children with proton radiotherapy. Because there are only a few centers around the country and world, this necessitates travel and displacement from home for the majority of the patients that come.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Many children and their families who could not previously afford to come for proton radiotherapy due to the added costs for the family for housing and time off of work, now have an affordable, welcoming community that provides so much more than simply housing. It is a true community with a curriculum of activities and provides tremendous support to the children and their families at such a difficult time.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
perhaps increase it's capacity as it is such a wonderful program and there are some patients who are unable to get in because it is full.
