I am part of a group that organizes a series of athletic endurance events to help raise money for Christopher's Haven. When I first participated in these events two years ago, I did not know much about Christopher's Haven and, honestly, although I was happy to be helping raise money for a charity, my participation in the events was more for me to overcome the personal athletic challenges the events presented.

Subsequent to participating in the event the first time, I became more involved with their organization and was able to visit Christopher's Haven and truly understand the amazing services they provide children with cancer and their families when they come to Boston for treatment. Having met some of the kids who stay at Christopher's Haven (and their families) and also working closely with the people who run Christopher's Haven has been truly amazing, life changing experience

Now as I am in the process of organizing and participating in these events to benefit Christopher’s Haven, I am solely focused on how we can make the events better in order to raise more money for Christopher’s Haven and not the personal challenge the events present me as the kids who stay at Christopher's Haven are faced with a tougher challenge than I have ever dealt with.
