My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Unbound, Kansas City, KS, USA
We have been sponsors for nearly 20 years and enjoyed a long relationship with one Guatemalan family. We have sponsored two girls who have "graduated" and now support their younger sister and we added another boy. We enjoy the regular correspondence and my teens write the letters now. Wonderful work in very needy areas with families who appreciate the love and encouragement.
Review for Soles4Souls, Old Hickory, TN, USA
I traveled to Haiti with S4S in March 2011. An amazing experience. S4S covers all the arrangements from the US to the country of work and back. We spent 5 days in Haiti and it was one of the best trips I have ever been fortunate to take. We led two shoe distributions - new shoes donated to S4S. We sat individually with each recipient - washed their feet, fitted their shoes and touched their lives, if only for a few moments. It is beautiful and simple - yet very meaningful. Shoes are critical to avoiding disease and mites that come in through cracked feet walking in the dirt. You will see and experience the country like no other trip. Katie Lentile and John our guide were incredible. Pick a country and go!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The faces of the children and adults who are so happy to have comfortable new shoes for their tired feet.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Reduce the CEO pay.
Review for St. Anne's Maternity Home, Los Angeles, CA, USA
A friend introduced me to St. Anne's over 10 years ago. I visited the facility and toured the programs. I quickly learned that the clients served by St. Anne's were some of Los Angeles's most vulnerable teens and young adults. The foster care system had not prepared these girls for the challenges in life - let alone facing those challenges with a baby as a single mother. I have been involved as a volunteer and Board member ever since that day. St. Anne's staff and volunteers are dedicated and talented individuals who make miracles happen in the lives of their clients. Through residential treatment, mental health, literacy, education and transitional housing services, St. Anne's provides a safe and nurturing environment for the young women and children who live and visit there.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
meeting many young women who say that without St. Anne's they would have been homeless, destitute and hopeless.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
convince DCFS that the teenagers should stay until age 18 rather than being sent elsewhere.
