Truthout is an essential source of news for me every day. I currently live outside of the US, but I am an American who relies on getting the truth in journalism. I get my news from the internet, and I read a variety of news sources, but Truthout is at the top for providing me with news I can trust. It offers a compilation of the best news out there in both mainstream and alternative news.
I love the Buzz-out quick read news items--these pieces are always hard-hitting, immediate, and compelling. Truthout has some of the most intelligent voices in news--Thom Hartmann, Chris Hedges, William Rivers Pitt--people who are fearless in their expression of both fact and opinion.

Prior to the existence of such high-quality news on the web, I often felt isolated in my beliefs and opinions. After the 9-11 event at the World Trade Center in 2001, I immediately knew there was a story behind the official story. But try talking to your neighbors and friends and boy, you'd feel ostracized and 'unpatriotic.'

Now, when I get my daily dose of information, I know I am not alone, and I can see that I'm not the only one who feels a need to move our society in a different direction. I love that Truthout prints investigative pieces that go behind sensational headlines.

I want news that is vital. I find Huffington Post annoying; Alternet has its share of fluff. Truthout is the best!!!!
