Review for New Hampshire Audubon, Concord, NH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

NH Aubudon is dedicated to protecting New Hampshire's environment for wildlife and people. It has a staff of biologists who conduct research on wildlife and habitat so we have the information to make careful changes to protect and improve the quality of environment for wildlife in New Hampshire.
It has a team of dedicated naturalists who bring wildlife into schools for educational programs and who conduct programs at its five centers throughout the state. All of its programming is designed to link people to the environment and wildlife to build a statewide organization of people who care and want to make a difference in our environment.
While birds are a focus for the organization, it also studies dragonflies, mammals, and all of the wildlife in the state.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have participated in banding fledgling peregrine falcons, five little fluffy white creatures from the wild. A quick hold, clamp on the band, and it's over. Those bands let us follow the progress of the birds and learn where they roam, how long they live, and more. Careful monitoring of these birds has let us know that we have made changes in the environment (banning DDT) that have helped peregrine falcons as well as bald eagles recover their populations in this state.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would find the money to fund all of the positions at the full time level. Right now, because of the pressures faced by all non-profits, NH Audubon has cut the hours its staff work. It is surviving, but giving its staff more time to do their work would be wonderful and would reap benefits for the whole state.
