Review for Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky, Louisville, KY, USA
OAK is an incredible organization. It not only provides support for those whose lives are closely linked to ovarian cancer but reaches out far beyond that to provide learning opportunities for those in health care and the community at large. They are a small but highly motivated group.
Review for Dominican Sisters Of Peace Inc, Columbus, OH, USA
The Dominican Sisters of Peace have a short history but a long tradition. The vowed members and associates continue to work for the good of those marginalized and poor. Their recent stance supporting the need for immigration reform is worthy of support.

Review for Dominican Sisters Of Peace Inc, Columbus, OH, USA
My association with the Dominican Sisters of Peace began with its beginning on Easter Sunday 2009. This group of 600 vowed religious women works tirelessly to preach the gospel through their lives and through their good works. As they reflect on a world bigger than themselves they reach out to address the needs of the world in small and big ways. They seek to teach through their literacy programs and institutions for education; care for the earth; care for the sick and on and on----with their mission to be women of peace they strive to live peace personally and promote it globally.

Review for Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky, Louisville, KY, USA
My experience with OAK began by accident-a friend had been invited to their annual fund raiser. Being someone who had a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, I also became an honoree! In the years since that introduction, I have watched as OAK supports survivors and their families, reaches out to educate all members of the community about ovarian cancer, advocates within the health care community and in general is a consistently ever present voice for women and their gynocological health. The membership is probably small, I really don't know those numbers but I do know the incredible committment of OAK to life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Changing the attitude of medical students toward women and the knowledge they have of how their boodies experience illness and health.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
be bold in stating and restating the importance of education for women and those who love women about the importance of knowing their bodies and fighting for attention for medical care and respect.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The opportunity to literally watch women dance even in the presence of a life threatening diagnosis.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Committed, optomistic, intelligent, generous, and tenacious.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Help fund not only health care research but provide the financial support that many with ovarian cancer need to get quality treatments without undo finiancial strain.
Ways to make it better...
I had more time to spend being engaged in the work of the organization and its members.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Money and volunteers
One thing I'd also say is that...
OAK is truly a great non profit and worthy of much more attention than it seeks.
