Review for Planned Parenthood Great Northwest Hawaii Alaska Indiana & Ky Inc, Seattle, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am proud to be a volunteer and supporter of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (PPGN). This organization provides health services for thousands of women in my State, Washington. Many of my 25 year old daughter's friends, men and women, get their contraceptives and confidential STD testing there. Many of her female friends and some of mine have only one health care provider, Planned Parenthood. PPGN is one of the only sources of low-cost health care for low-income women and I am so very glad that they are there. They provide these general health and reproductive health services for women at great risk to their own lives and, I"m sure, they don't earn fantastic salaries doing it. I am very thankful that PPGN is there for me, my sons and daughter, and our friends.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the 1970s when I needed Planned Parenthood the most.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

effect very tough laws and enforcement of those laws at the Federal level that would deter the extremist factions and individuals who threaten the lives of those who work at Planned Parenthood. PPGN needs more protection and I believe they are not getting it.

Role:  Volunteer & I have served on the Visibility Team, standing in front of the clinic in Tacoma (often facing off with extremist, sometimes bullying, groups), and I have marched with Planned Parenthood many times in Seattle and Olympia.

Review for Truthout, Sacramento, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been reading Truthout regularly from Facebook for at least 6 months now. I wish I had found it earlier. In my opinion, they have very well written reports by well-known experts. Assertions are backed up with actual facts. There is a level of investigative journalism in the reports that I read at Truthout that I don't find on television or in my local paper. I can depend on them to find the underlining story and to get to the bottom of the matter, sometimes in the face of the prevailing news media. I don't have a lot of money, but I fully intend to donate to support this valuable information source. I would not like to see them have to stop reporting.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

because I read articles at the Truthout site.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not change anything. I like it the way it is.

Role:  General Member of the Public & Read reports at Truthout website.
