Review for International Snow Leopard Trust, Seattle, WA, USA
I love the Snow Leopard Trust. They are effectively working to save endangered snow leopards. They work well with other organizations with similar goals instead of making things about them. They really care about the people and communities who share territory with snow leopards and are working to improve education, offer microloans and education to start new industries and they sell crafts made by the people in the program. They are making life better for snow leopards and people.

Review for Cheetah Conservation Fund, Alexandria, VA, USA
I honestly don't understand the low rating. CCF is doing more to save the severely endangered cheetah than any other organization. They seem to care about the people in the cheetah's ecosystem as well as the cheetahs which is important to me.

I've learned much more about cheetahs, have seen the results of CCF's work with local communities to prevent the killing of cheetahs, and research on returning cheetahs to the wild.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Improve communication with donors, find ways to involve them through more local events and at home volunteer opportunities. Sell more reasonably priced merchandise to raise funds.

Review for RedRover, Sacramento, CA, USA
My newly adopted cat needed to have his teeth removed and we couldn't afford to do it. He was in a lot of pain, and couldn't eat. We applied for a UAN grant and received one promptly which helped with our vet expenses. I have also donated to this charity on occasion, and receive their informative news magazine.

The new name is AWFUL! It doesn't tell me what the organization is, what it does, and it sounds like it's maybe only for dogs. It would be hard to imagine a worse change in name.

Review for Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, UT, USA
I've worked with this charity for many years as a volunteer. I've visited the Sanctuary many times and the care the animals receive is far beyond anything available anywhere else. I volunteer on the Animal Help Line, and received very good training and resources, and have always been treated with friendship and kindness. I

I've seen hundreds of animals receive the best veterinary care available, and treated with the utmost care and compassion. I've seen tremendous growth in the "no-kill" approach to animal shelters. I've seen, first hand, that no animal is beyond hope or un-adoptable.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
The organization seems to be a bit chaotic and at times dysfunctional. I'd like to see the employees treat themselves with the same care they treat the animals. I'd like to see them allow more people to work and/or volunteer from remote locations since Best Friends is quite isolated, and many jobs don't need to be done onsite. Volunteers should be welcomed a bit better and given more specific tasks to do.
Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
A lot
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Okay
Would you recommend this group to a friend?

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
Give me something more challenging to do that really utilizes my skills. While I love playing with the cats, I would at times like something more challenging to do.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Yes. I learned a lot more about cat care and am better able to care for my own cats and the strays I rescue.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
Great! I'm actually planning to move down near the Sanctuary so I can spend more time there.
