Review for Sisters 4 Sisters Inc, Lanham, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I began supporting Sisters4Sisters in the Spring of 2010 after my sister was killed by her husband. I was looking for an organization that ministered to the needs of battered and abused women. I found that Sisters4Sisters not only supports issues of domestic violence through the LOVE program, but also invests in young ladies via a mentoring program, women's health issues (especially Heart Health and HIV education) incarcerated women, women in shelters and those who are attempting to learn new skills in order to move from welfare to work. I am continously impressed by how much is accomplished by the organization and the level of impact the organization has in the community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching its impact on the women in the community. Although the organization serves women who are hurting; volunteers and donors also benefit mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. By leveraging technology, the leadership is able to deposit into the lives of volunteers via the Tuesday calls and the Purpose tele-conferences. This ensures that volunteers are not only receiving the intrinsic rewards associated with giving; but also the support through sisterhood and coaching.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find ways to involve new volunteers in projects and committees. (Maybe have committee chairs reach out to new volunteers once interests have been identified.)
