Review for Pasado's Safe Haven, Sultan, WA, USA
I've been a volunteer at Pasado's for about 3 years and would like to add my thoughts to all the negative comments you might have read or heard about in the news or the internet.
First and foremost, all animals are cared for with the utmost care and attention. If people could see the ill health and abuse some animals have suffered through when they are rescued by Pasado's and how these same animals are nursed and loved back to health, the same people would be less quick to pass judgments. The small staff and dozens of volunteers do their best to create a healthy, safe, happy and practical environment for all animals to either be adopted out to like-minded people or to live out their lives with as much dignity and comfort as possible.
As for management, there has been some problems. Some Staff and Board members have been replaced or have quit for a whole variety of reasons that are not as bad as seems to be put out there in the public's eye. The biggest change is that Susan Michaels no longer has any influence or control of the day to day operations at Pasado's Safe Haven. No one has as much passion for animal rights as Susan, and she will be missed for this. Staff and the Board now control daily operations and ALL these people are dedicated to one thing...the welfare of all the critters on the farm and the respect and thankfulness to all the volunteers who are so necessary to run an operation this big.
Yes, there have been problems in the past. Some from growing too fast to meet the needs of the community. Some from poor judgments with finances and hirings. Corrections and changes are happening all the time to keep Pasados as an A+ animal rehab and rescue facility with super caring people donating their time, their love, and their energy.
I would invite anyone to attend the Open Houses, or better yet, become a volunteer and put your energy and love where your negative thoughts are. Find out what it is really like before anyone passes judgments on the past. Come give love to the critters, come dig ditches, come shovel horse manure, come fix fences, come help fund raise, come feed chickens, come and make a difference.
