Review for LIVESTRONG Foundation, Austin, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When I first heard the word "you have cancer" I thought it was a death wish. Then when I began to research my specific type on the web it only seemed to reconfirm the death wish. However the one shining light was the LIVESTRONG website. The positive message, the tools for survivors, and images and stories of survivors left me with the understanding that this was not a death wish and that it was time to fight. Happy to say I am over a year cancer free, I have been able to volunteer and just recently participated in LIVESTONG's great Challenge event, and loving life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the tens of thousands of peoples smiling faces at the LIVESTRONG Challenge. Coming together to fight this disease and support people affected.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing different. It inspires people to act and that grassroots effort is what is needed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The support they have given myself and my family through tools (survivor notebook) and the moral support.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very helpful, supportive, and plentiful. Everyone wanted to help.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Reach thousands more grassroots activists that can further spread the word and fund research.

Ways to make it better...

Could not have been better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Having additional visible and influential leaders beyond Lance. His cycling background touched a chord with me, since I like to cycle. Just think how other athletes, business leaders, etc. could reach other people.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Viva Lance and LIVESTRONG.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
