Review for American Cancer Society Foundation, Atlanta, GA, USA
I have been both a volunteer for the Amerinca Cancer Society and have used the services of the ACS when I was diagnosed with cancer. As a volunteer, I found that the American Cancer Society offers opportunities to match and utilize your interests and abilities in the Fight Against Cancer. The possibilities to participate are almost unlimited. The Americna Cance Society is also a good steward fo the funds received, with the large majority of the funds raised going to programs to benefit cancer patients and to prevent cancer.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my own experience getting information and advice when I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I was able to find treatment alternatives and ressure my family about the prognosis by using the resources founs on www.cancer.org
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Hire people with more bsiness experience in key metropolitan areas. These individuals would complement the dedicated Community Representatives who represent the ACS so well at the grass roots level.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the fact that my involvement level could grow asn expand as much as I wanted it too. I don't belienve tht you can ever get bored working with the American Cacner Society because there are always new opportunities.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
truely dedicated to fighting and eliminatinng cancer and easing the burden of partients and their families.
Ways to make it better...
the local staff ran the organization more like the business that it is. There is no question about their dedicactio nto the Misison of the American Cancer Society. I beleive that they could achieve better results with more focus on the business aspects.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the competition with other non-profits for a diminished pool of funds in the current economy.
