Review for Womens Microfinance Initiative Corporation, Bethesda, MD, USA
I am a volunteer for WMI and help organize the book drives that are helping create a lending library in a small village in Uganda and other villages in that region. Having two children of my own and seeing the impact reading can have on the growth and development of children has spurred me on to help make that happen in impoverished regions of the world where they don't have access to libraries such as we have here. I have watched WMI grow over the past 3-4 years and have been amazed at the impact one organization can have in transforming the lives of women and families.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have heard the testimonials of so many women who have directly benefitted from small loans they received from WMI. They were able to start their own businesses and then open bank accounts with local Ugandan banks. This gives them more and more opportunities to help their families and become independent. I have seen pictures of the local children reading the books that we collected and sent over to Buyobo -- the same books my children loved when they were learning how to read. Very heartwarming!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Robyn Nietert has created an amazing template for operating a non-profit successfully and I can't think of anything I would have done differently.
