My Nonprofit Reviews

Jonathan Livingston
Review for Human Services Center Corporation, Turtle Creek, PA, USA
I met Dave Coplan through a networking recommendation from Jennifer Ross at PANO and eventually wound-up doing contract work for HSCC. Dave understands that for a nonprofit to achieve excellence, you need to strategically and relentlessly advocate for the people you serve. I am impressed by HSCC's ability to diversify and expand their fundraising, develop a dedicated staff and harness the power of an engaged Board. But most of all, I'm impressed by the work that HSCC is doing with Mon Valley's youth. As someone with an extensive background in youth programming, the Emerging Leaders Program is simply among the best that I've seen, HSCC recognizes that their work isn't just about addressing the needs of the people they serve, but also about enabling them to envision and achieve a better life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
its complete approach to addressing the needs of the community. They recognize that it's not just community patch-work, but the empowerment of a community as well
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
learning from exemplary service and leadership. Any aspiring nonprofit leader would do well to learn from the work that Dave Coplan is doing in the Mon Valley
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
driven by a clarity of roles and mission. In the field of Human Services where the burn-out quotient can be high, the staff and volunteers remain focused and determined to do excellent work.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
do its part to dispel the notion that we can't eradicate the cycles of poverty in our communities
