I have spent a total of 5 weeks at Tortuguero and will be back for more. It is a magical experience! The full moon glistening off the breaking surf, sounds of the night from the rain forest behind the beach , & giant turtles lumbering up the beach to undertake a nesting process that they have been doing for 100 million years. Here is a place of great historical significance and a showcase for conservation done right. The accommodations are good, the people are friendly & the food is delicious. The last time I was there the Research Assistants & staff represented a dozen different counties. For anyone who likes nature & turtles, in particular, it is an unforgettable experience.
