I am a 6th grade teacher at Natividad School in Salinas, CA. We invited Save the Whales (Tom) to come and give a watershed demonstration to students in order to prepare them for an upcoming field trip. Throughout the course of the hands on demonstration students were fully engaged. The next day I took students on a tour of the school in which they would identify potential hazards. Students sketched pictures about what they saw. I know that Tom's presentation was truly effective based on the fact that students could readily identify potential pollution sources, the effects of those sources, and potential solutions to the problem.
