Review for American Cancer Society Foundation, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The American Cancer Society IS the place to turn for answers, support and hope. The American Cancer Society's mission is to eliminate cancer. They fight cancer on all fronts...research, education, advocacy and patient services. For me, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world's largest and greatest support group for cancer survivors and caregivers! I am blessed to be a survivor and I attribute my quality of life to the programs and services of the American Cancer Society.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

increased number of survivors. Better education and prescreening have saved lives. Smokefree communities are increasing in numbers! Yeah!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue the fight to find a cure in every way possible.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It is an extended family because the organization is volunteer driven. Those that volunteer has a connection to cancer.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Staff and volunteers are some of the most passionate, hard-working, caring individuals that I have had the privilege to be associated with.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It would increase programs and services to ultimately eliminated cancer. It would be able to fund more research grants, provide more services to patients, educate the general public on ways to prevent and detect cancer early on, when it is most treatable

Ways to make it better...

if I had never lost family and friends to the horrible disease they are fighting...cancer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the urgency of finding a cure for cancer.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the American Cancer Society is a large non-profit with a hometown feel.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I'm a donor, a volunteer, and someone who has been served by the American Cancer Society. I volunteer in every way possible to help to fight to find a cure.
