Review for American Cancer Society Foundation, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

8 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the American Cancer Society was there for me. Ever since I've been there for them - to share my story of hope each and every day. Since purple is the ACS color for survivors, I keep my hair colored purple to be able to share life and encouragement with others. ACS helped me to see that I had cancer - cancer didn't have me! ACS and Relay For Life give me the opportunity to fight back at cancer and to make sure everyone knows of their website www.cancer.org, their 24/7 hotline 1.800.227.2345, and the many resources and outreaches that touch lives and give hope. My last 7 birthdays have been awesome - and ACS has helped give me many more!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the look of hope on someone's face when I share with them the 24/7 hotline and website number.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

add more information on alternative treatments

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the training I've received to share the story of hope.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always willing to give me information to help myself and others and enthusiastic in their commitment to their jobs.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

further fund the cure.

Ways to make it better...

I had never had cancer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the trials of helping folks who don't have any or inadequate insurance.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I have been so very blessed by everyone I've met throught ACS and Relay for Life. I am blessed because of what I have to give to others because of ACS.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & By keeping my hair colored purple - every day I get to talk to people about what ACS can do for them. Every year at Relay I get my head shaved - the school that raises the most amount of money shaves my head and paints on it. Then I keep it bald for a m.
