Review for Children's Cancer Connection, Johnston, IA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer for 4 summers at their sibling and oncology camps. This organization goes above and beyond many other similar organizations in that they not only have programs for the child who has/had cancer, but also the child's siblings and parents as well. The organization's programs from the beloved summer camp to ClubHope to family events allow the oncology kids and their families to be introduced to others who can relate to their experiences and provide a support system for eachother as they face the ups and downs of the battle against cancer. Their programs remind the families and children that they aren't the only ones who have faced the challenges of cancer and that they don't have to face it alone. It is a shame that their aren't more organizations like the Heart Connection throughout the United States.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers who were previously benefited from the Heart Connection's programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

witnessing first hand the extraordinary impact they have on their clients.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

110% dedicated to ensuring the goals of the Heart Connection were being met 100% of the time in every program they did. They were helpful, energetic and passionate about what they do.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach out to any other families in Iowa who aren't currently being reached by their services. No family, or child with cancer would have to face their battle alone.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
