As a new volunteer with experience from another nonprofit, I can attest to the special aura of SAFE. New volunteers are immediately accepted into the group, and new horses experience the same. Just as incoming horses are assessed for their needs and skills, incoming volunteers find a set of duties that are a good fit. While the majority of horses here come from trauma, the place exudes a quiet peace that is so healing. The horses find a truly safe (hopefully temporary) home, and volunteers can find a spiritual home working for The Good of the Horse.
