As a proud Board member of MAIA since 2023, a donor, and someone originally from Guatemala, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative power of this organization. Visiting the MAIA Impact School and spending time with the family of one of our Girl Pioneers was deeply moving. These young women are not only empowered and confident, but they also possess impressive English skills and receive a world-class education across all subjects.

MAIA is more than a school—it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity in Sololá, where indigenous girls have few, if any, alternatives for this level of education and support. The impact MAIA has on the community is profound. It equips girls with the tools they need to pursue higher education, launch careers, and become leaders in their communities.
