Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
My name is Ibrahim Hazat a 4th year doctor of optometry student at KNUST. I am filled with joy and gratitude in my heart sharing my wonderful experience as a beneficiary of EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS INTERNATIONAL (EPI) SCHOLARSHIP. This program has shaped me in different kind of ways by giving me the motivation to study my books and also teach me to pursue other things that will make me a better person in future. They assist me financial with all that I need, this program has taught me how to be time conscious and organize my daily activities. They organise programs and teach us about soft skills like public speaking, entrepreneurship and many more. I am now interested in expanding my knowledge outside my program of study and all thanks to EPI.
I chose the path of Optometry because of my love for helping anyone if I have the will and also help to reduce visual impairment. A neighbour’s struggle with a late-detected eye condition that ultimately led to his blindness has even motivated me further to help prevent the rate at which people go blind. Witnessing his challenges and the impact it had on his quality of life was heart-breaking, and I realized that if he had received early diagnosis and treatment, his condition could have been prevented or managed. This experience sparked a desire in me to pursue a career in Optometry, with the goal of helping to prevent others from suffering the same fate, and providing them with the care and support they need to maintain their vision and quality of life, thereby making a meaningful difference in my community and honouring my neighbour’s experience.
After completing my studies, my aim is to give back to my community by engaging in free eye screening exercises, particularly in rural and underserved areas, to help detect and prevent eye diseases. I also plan to leverage social media, radio, and television stations to provide eye education and raise awareness about the importance of eye care, with the goal of empowering people to take control of their eye health. To achieve this, I hope to collaborate with donors and sponsors who share my vision, and together, we can make a significant impact in reducing the prevalence of avoidable blindness and promoting eye health in Ghana. I am passionate about inspiring and empowering others, especially young people, to pursue careers in healthcare. I hope to mentor future optometry students and contribute to building a strong workforce dedicated to serving the community's needs. Also help the youth in vocation especially females with words of encouragement and some tools they may need.
I am deeply grateful to EPI for believing in me and supporting my educational journey. I am committed to using my acquired knowledge and skills to create a positive impact on my community and contribute to a brighter future for all. I will always give EPI 100% for believing in me and helping me towards my goals. I highly recommend EPI to everyone who has the potentials and needs support. May Allah bless EPI for giving us such a great opportunity to gain and impact on our community. Thank you.
