I am a social worker and I have supported children impacted by a life changing diagnosis for years. Kids Kicking Cancer has been such an incredible source of support and empowerment for many of my clients, and their families. The wrap around support that they provide is very unique including teaching coping strategies and techniques of taking charge in difficult moments, the concept that light can overpower darkness, showing siblings that they are valued and important as well, showing parents that their child is not alone in their journey, and the natural support groups that take place in the waiting areas amongst parents. Each one of the qualities of this program contradict the feeling of isolation that so many family's experience when a member of the family is diagnosed. The true feeling of connectivity, community and sense of family is present in every class. I highly recommend this program to so many people, but also hope that sponsors continue to support this program so it can continue to expand!
