I am pretty new to BHFER as a Volunteer, and since starting in August 2024, I have learned so much from Theresa, Bob and Pam. When I am at the Farm, all my stresses from everyday life just melt away, even for a few hours; I call it my "happy place." As all the volunteers have witnessed, the horses that arrive at BH have been starved, neglected or worse, and it is beyond my comprehension how people can be so cruel, that they don't stand a chance, but at BH they get that second chance to be loved and cared for as they all deserve. Like people, their mental scars will always be there, but they know they are in a safe place and will never be neglected or starved again. For Theresa and Bob, it is definitely a 24/7 commitment, and I had no idea how much is involved taking care of a herd, and then some that find their way to BH, the time, expense and sacrifice is mind-blowing. It is definitely a Labor of Love. Theresa and Bob have my utmost respect, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Herd.
